Hey I'm going to look at a 2008 BF mkII Xr6t ute tomorrow, just looking for a few pointers on what to look out for..

For starters I didnt think the BFs were still being made in 2008? I've been searching for ages looking for the thread on what to look for when buying a xr6t but I cant find it anywhere.

I've been told to look out for leaking radiators and the typical turbo sound and so on, is there any rust spots or anything to look out for? I've owned 2 VL turbos and know theres alot of things to look at when buying one of them lol.

Any pointers will be greatly appreciated, even if its just the link to the right thread.

Cheers Keelan

The BF mk2's started around Septemberish 06 all the way into 08 until the FG came in.

Being an 08 it should be fairly clean so spotting something out of the ordinary shouldnt be too hard. Good luck.

Had a look today, all seens ok. Just a few little things like the timing belt cover looks like its been off before and a fair bit of silicon is around it. One of the belts is starting to fray and spiting a bit of rubber around. Drivers side quarter panel gap is a little bit bigger compared to the passenger side, but it doesnt look like any of the bolts have been undone.. Apart from that it drove very smooth, I thought that it would go a bit quicker, cant really feel the boost come on to much. It was the first one I've driven though, so I might drive a few more before making a move..

there's only one belt so there could be a mis-alignment somewhere, the gaps sound bad, and the silicon even worse. sounds like it might have been smashed and repaired by the things youve described.

do a revs check on the vehicle obviously and see what comes up.

Will a revs check tell me if its been in a prang or just if its been written off or whatever. I did a quick one online at the vic roads site and it came up clear. Where do I do a revs check from? Cheers

No it won't tell you about all accident history, only if it's been written-off, stolen or is encumbered.

Each state has different names for it and is facilitated by differing government departments, in Qld it's the Dept. of Fair Trading, but if it's on the Vic Roads website then I'd say that's it.
