I can't clean windows for love or money, every time I try they end up looking worse than when I started. I've used pretty much every chemical known to man (not all at once  ) and the result is pretty much the same every time so I think it is me rather than the Windex/other chemical. At the moment I've got some Meguiers window cleaner to try, what should I do? I have to have my beast looking tip top and ship shape for this weekend's cruise.

This works for me ...

General car wash includes bug/crap removal from car and windows (outside).

Windows get done as last outside thing.

Meguiers window cleaner rocks, does good job, doesn't effect tint, leaves nice smell.

Squirt cleaner on (if it runs down the window, you've used to much), wipe off with paper towel or newspaper. I use paper towel, then when dry I wipe down with clean soft cloth.

Repeat on inside.

Note: you should ensure that windows are dried after wash, BEFORE they dry naturally, otherwise you'll end up with "spot marks", very hard to get rid of.

Stand back, suck down suds.

No no no...

When will you learn Ken?

Listen to the master.

Wash windows outside just as you would wash your car.

Dry windows with chammy, as Ken said they leave spots which are very hard to get off.

Spray Meguires Window Cleaner on inside windows, wipe with a Meguires 100% Lint Free Terry Towel.

Use one side of Terry Towel for Inside, do the same thing on the outside using the other side of the towel.

Get another Meguires 100%.....towel and buff the inside windows first, then the outside.

If you can find another way to get your windows cleaner, pls tell me. I have never seen windows cleaner than mine.

I stand corrected, Cro ... but where's the bit in your procedure about "sucking down suds"? B)

Thanks guys, never had much success with newspaper or other paper products previously, they end up all soggy ( insert smutty comment from Ken here...) and the windows look worse.

No suds till the whole job is finished.

I'd rather have a case of suds at the end of a job, than 1 bit of suds when I finish each part of a job...

:D

This thread prompted me to take a pic of some of the stuff I use to clean my baby ... only chemical not in the pic is the (most necessary) suds!

l used to use newspaper too and it works OK for about the first 10 seconds until it starts to disintegrate.

l find unsing Ammonia free Windex with a household kitchen sponge that is damp but not soaking wet works very well, no streaks, no residue and no need to buy expensive cloths.
