Each to their own, but my view is shared with plenty of others. No offense, but I'm sure all of your rental cars cop a flogging day in day out... its not hard to wreck an auto box. Nearly all of our Late model camira work cars have had new boxes, diffs etc. and the Fords are no different. The majority of people do not actually use long term fuel use as a guide. But as said previously, smaller engine with heavy car + crap economy, same with the 2 litre Daewoo Captiva.
