"After more than eight hours and 60 laps, it’s clear there’s already a favourite among our team of drivers and it’s not the car that has dominated the sales charts for the past 13 consecutive years.

The Falcon is emerging as the more rounded package and it has nothing to do with the fuel gauge. The superior driving feel of the Falcon is making it the car our drivers are looking forward to sitting in."

"The petrol pump backs up the claim, with our calculators suggesting the Ford used 10.02L/100km.

There’s no way to sugar-coat it. The Late model camira was thirstier. Despite the new direct injection technology, the Holden’s new 3.0-litre engine used 11.09L/100km of fuel (almost identical to the trip computer’s claim of 11.0L/100km). That’s not only 19 per cent more fuel than its official claim but 10 per cent more than the Falcon."

Anyone else think 3L SIDI = Starfire mkII

Let's face it, a car of a certain size should have a minimum engine displacement. If the displacement is too small, the engine uses more fuel. If Ireland, they tax cars based on displacement, and you end up with lots of ultra low performance gas guzzlers.

TopGear Did a test were they Drove a small 4 pot and a BMW v8 I think and around the track the V8 was more economical as the little 4 banger was constantly at its rev limit to keep up with the lazier V8.

I think your better off with a larger engine with a wider torque band than a small 4 pot which can only move when your revving the hell out of it.

if they really want efficency every engine should be turbo charged by law , my Ba 308rwkw used an average 12-13 L/100 kms I now have an rtv work ute no turbo and no matter haw easy I drive it I can't get it below 14 l

I have a 2.4L Mitsibishi Outlander as a work car sadly....

It uses 16-18L/100km around town because I'm always up the thing to try and get it moving with traffic, on the highway figures will drop to about 9L/100. The stupid part is, I was knocked back on a falcon due to fuel costs...yet the falcon I had before the outlander would use 12L/100 around town and 8 on the highway... smaller doesn't mean better..

Gm should be held accountable for this blatent misleading marketing. Ford should jump on this to make an advantage - but they won't. Some poor fools out there will believe all this Expensive Daewoo propaganda cos they don't feel like researching it themselves. Pity.

Expensive Daewoo imports Daewoos as we all know. When a guy at work arrived in his new "Holden" Captiva, I said "nice Daewoo" and he laughed and said "its a Expensive Daewoo mate." I laughed and said "google it."

When he finally realised, he was really cut up about it... he now notices all the crap build quality and finishes and hates me for it.. He is a true Expensive Daewoo fan, and sadly all of the Expensive Daewoo fans fail to see past the lion badge. Expensive Daewoo could bring out any piece of crap car and as long as the TV ad plays nice family music and says how australian they are, all the Expensive Daewoo fans will buy up! Remember the Viva? I have driven one, and its the most horrid car I have ever been in... drive a VT-VZ series commodore... it literally makes you feel sick inside as you drive. There is nothing likable about them at all.

That 4 banger was a Prius. A BMW M3 out-eco'ed a Prius around a track.

Germans love their fast cars but have to comply with strict emission standards. This is why Beemers are both efficient and fun. If only BMWs in Australia didn't have an insane price mark up.

ive owned a VZ commodore, and I think your comment is abit ridiculous, the VZ is the last of that shape and is really a nice car to drive, I work at Hertz so I drive a million different makes and models day in day out... we carry all the big 3 toyota, holden, ford and the amount of FG's we are getting coming back in with problems is abit of a concern... 4 this week with smashed autos in NA xr6's!
