Bingo!!!

I do all my own fluids and filters. I know its then done right and exactly whats been put in.

How can you be sure the apprentice hasn't used your fluids in his Hynudai Getz?

Because I undo the oil cap and pour the said oil into my own engine before it goes into service. :spoton:

So you don't get them to do it. No wonder you know its been done right then? :spoton:

I have seen a guy with a Tornado rock up to the local Ford dealers with 2 bottles of Penrite SIN0 in the front seat expecting that to be used instead of the standard shop oil. It made me wonder who's car it ended up with at the time.

You hadn't indicated that you changed it yourself ( I know you said you do them but I thought you meant supply them after taking into account the previous few posts) so I had visions of you doing the same.

So doing your own oil and filter change is ok with the new car warranty? Mines due for its 30,000km service and I'm unsure if I should take it to ford, or just do the oil and filter myself and let them do the rest..

I booked mine in today for its 15K servicing, told them I do my own oil-changes and the reply was from the service manager that it wasn't a problem so long I used the right oil (no mention of any specific brand) and used a genuine Ford Oil Filter..

I would be looking at Ultra-tune and the like, but I want to make sure all the software is up to date on it.

Its fine with warranty as long as you use correct oil and filter as stated above. Go see the Ford parts guys and get a filter. Should be $9, and make sure you get an A4 invoice. I staple the receipt for my oil to the invoice and record the kilometres and store it in the log book.

Currently running the "no-thrills" Shell Helix, but I am about to switch to a full synthetic. Used to (a long, long time ago) run Mobil 1 in a '86 VL Calais Turbo and was happy with it but will check out some other brands now..

that's pretty good hey. Mines going in for its 30,000km on Thursday. Did the oil and filter myself the other day. I'll let you know how it goes.
