prudent Member 21 Member For: 14y 10m 30d Posted 27/10/10 01:03 PM Share Posted 27/10/10 01:03 PM Seriously though you can hear a "ting, ting, ting, ting" sound after you turn the engine off as the turbo is spinning down which does not sound like it will be too long before the thing sh*ts itself good and proper.Hey mate,My car did this when it had the timing cover oil leak.Noise went away after it was fixed.Nevertheless its a good excuse to tell the missus the turbo is kaput and you need a new bigger one :DKeep us posted on how you go. My car had the common timing cover leak for about 7000km's and then it stopped, it also had a leak from the front of the rocker cover which stopped as well, a mechanic I talked to recently said that it could have been a case of the gaskets are now sealing better after getting oil soaked and swelling a little, who knows but at least it does not leak any more lol.Full turbo upgrade is on the way soon still, willl be done before christmas so watch this space. wagnman Member 567 Member For: 15y 4m 24d Posted 20/11/10 05:18 AM Author Share Posted 20/11/10 05:18 AM Im going to go for a common conversion that alot of guys like me have doen that want to keep their std exhaust manifold and existign dump pipe etc. It'll be a brand new FG F6 turbo hybridised (? lol) with the TO4Z front and comp wheel etc. Should be a good thing from as far as I can tell and deliver the kind of power / rev range that I am chasing. The next step up from this seems to be fairly major as you have to go an external waste gate turbo, custom exhaust manifold, new exhaust biger cooler, etc etc and really would require a built bottom end for any kind of reliability.cheers
