Can you explain why they paint the ports prior to porting?

Is this some kinda "guide coat" so to speak?

You can see where his mark the port to port match it to the manifolds

Danny,

Yes it is for guidance and measurement prior to porting for matching purposes, gasket development etc. Some people just groove the outline with a sharp object like a compass, but when you are working it is difficult to see at times. I am not aware of any other reason however that doesn't mean that there isn't :turboboink:
