Hi guys,

Has anyone so far put a XR6 Turbo engine into a Pre AU falcon?

Currently I have a XH Ute and I have just spent a bit of money tidying up the body etc, but the engine is very tired and needs to be replaced soon :( , does anyone know;

What sort of rough idea it will cost to put a XR6 Turbo in it?

Is it possible?

Are there any XR6 turbo enignes on the market second hand yet?

How costly is a new factory XR6 Trubo engine?

Thanks guys. :thumbsup:

There are already a couple of write-offs so keep your eye on the auctions, Pickles etc., and you will find there are complete cars out there - you need the entire wiring loom and electronics if you want to do it with a genuine factory turbo. Or you will have to source an aftermarket ECU (expensive items, an Autronic or the like) to manage your engine and wire into your existing loom.

A cheaper alternative is to get a 4.0l atmo motor and put an aftermarket turbo kit from CAPA - cost roughly $7,000 (and upwards) depending how far you want to go with engine mods and boost.

At this point in time I really doubt you'd be able to get a factory turbo from Ford (even if you could afford one) as they have a waiting list 6 months long for complete cars so I can't see them selling any bare motors.

Have a squiz at HOTDBZ aka Jesmal's beast on FF it might change your mind all together:

*Another headache would be getting the fly by wire working in an older model (if you wanted to use it).
