It is so far ahead of the 4sp in the BA it can't be compared. The shift patter adapts to your driving and it is smooth and predicatable. My BF had 340kw and the zf was flawless. It even downshifts on heavy braking. My only problem was I got bored with it. I love to drive a manual. I love the fact that I feel more engaged all the time. People that tell you to drive the zf in manual mode have got their hand on something else - it just isn't the same. If you do end up witht he zf leave it in perf D and you won't look back. The TR6060 is better than the T56. But not by much. The clutch feel is much better in the FG. The whole thing is let down by the rest of the drive train and the inevitable clunk is there even 5 years later. For anyone wanting to drive a refined car with smooth transmission, the M6 is not for you. It can be a pain in the arse in stop start traffic but I simply can't get the smile off my face since getting back into a manual.I fully understand those that sing the praises of the zf. It really is that good. It probably accelerates faster than the M6 and probably gets there with much less fuss. The problem for me is that I love driving manuals - real manuals with a clutch. The future of motor cars is definitely moving away from manuals but as long as they keep making them I'll keep driving them!ZF auto = 9/10 , driving enjoyment = 6/10T56 = 6/10 , driving enjoyment = 7/10TR6060 = 7/10, driving enjoyment 9/

A little clunky as some have commented, but that's not the gearbox. I'll take a manual over an auto any day. The responsiveness in using the throttle to create the right attitude in a corner, I've never been able to master with an auto.Mark
