if u think the shift pattern is to far scavange out $300 and get 1 of mals short shifter.

if u think the clutch is sh*t get a aftermarket 1

most of these components are fine for the intended 200rwkw car it is

thanks for all your replies guys - im not planning on modding the vehicle at all but I am NOT buying an auto dont see the point - actually dont ever recall asking about it - and Zapper the T5 must be very up and down cos mine has done 160000 km and is still silky smooth no problems - and I drive it hard nearly all the time. Im gonna test drive one on thursday so I will just pretend that it is gonna be as bad as the T56 then I will be pleasantly surprised

Its funny that you guys all say the T56 is clunky - its not the box it is the rest of the drivetrain I didnt find it clunky noise wise just found it to be a very wide box that didnt lend itself to quick gear changes - second to third was terrible actually -

so I guess next question is are the gates closer in the new box to the T56??

Horses for courses mate! To each their own.

I could reply to your post with something like "I fail to see why anyone would enjoy driving an auto over a manual, unless your only interest is in 1/4 mile times, or your skill level just isnt up to driving a manual. Manual driving is so much more involving (and fun) than any auto box, regardless of how good it is", but I'm not as judgemental of slushbox steerers as you seem to be of real drivers! LOL

Having owned over 40 cars, with only 4 being auto, I consider myself a manual driver.

Having owned both a manual Turbo XR and ZF F6, I also consider myself qualified to comment.

The ZF is totally different gearbox to other Autos boxes on the market.

You do not need to be a manual driver to be a real driver, some of us have evolved to better technology.

May be if some Turbo drivers took their narrow view of Autos and took one for a drive, they would also see the light.

first clutch lasted 11,000km, malwood clutch has been going strong for 27,000km

stock fg xr8 with 330rwhp.

im not a fan of the 6spd Auto... fun for skids though. just seems doughy at times

Yeah the gates are much closer, movement is lighter and faster (still no fiesta), although there is still some clunk in the drivetrain its nicer than I remember with BA BF.

I have no clutch problem, and its had a hard time... I thought a clutch would only just have been bed in by 11,000km, let alone worn out. My understanding is that anything else is mechanical failure and should be covered by warranty. pressure plate, throwout bearing etc. :buttonit:

haha!

that's wicked..

:funnydance:

in that case.. perhaps ford R&D wasn't harsh enough.. I think warranty is void if taken on a track anyway.. I know it is on a Nissan GTR, I drove one the other day and had a look at the owners manual.. warranty is almost totally void if you turn of traction control :gooff:

After owning both auto and manual T's and F6's I don't think ill ever go back to a manual, the auto is just so much nicer at gear changes both when driving hard and then just putting it back in drive and letting it do its own thing.

Auto all the way for me
