SilverSurfer200 Member 3 Member For: 16y 1d Posted 04/12/09 03:02 PM Share Posted 04/12/09 03:02 PM I bought my BAMKII Typhoon about 5 months ago and thought the car was really fast it was the only one I drove and it was too good a deal too pass up.Anyway in the last month or so the car would start to surge as if it missing if I took it past 4000rpm. Took it into my mechanic for a service and this was the outcome. The car had the wrong spark plugs in it which cause arcing onto the coilpacks damaging them and causing misfires and the car dropping the number 5 cylinder at highish revs. One of the rubber crossover seals was being held on with a zip tie causing a leak in the air intake and there was a leak in the turbo piping because a clamp had not been tightened properly. Now usually I would get someone in to inspect the car before I buy but they were an FPV dealer a nationwide automotive group who had conducted a 100 point check and were going to service the car before I picked it up. My question is should the dealer have picked these issues up at some point during the inspection and service or do they not delve that deep and do I have a leg to stand on trying to recover repair costs in your guys opinion. I also found rust in a well documented area(boot seal) shortly after purchasing even thought their report stated the car was rust free. Sorry about post length. BAII means it's between 2-4 years old. Good dealer or no good dealer. yes, they should have probably picked it up and I would give them a serious rev about it. I would also be a bit worried about what else may be wrong with it. If I were you I would pay the money and get it checked. As far as they are concerned, they haven't heard from you in this long, so they think they've got away with it. Remember at the end of the day, if the car salesman does sell the car, he doesnt eat, so he wants to make sure those cars go out the door! And again, as Pete said, pay the money & get it fully looked over. Better now then when something else breaks.Edit: I guess I should say they arent all the same, but still, better safe than sorry with any car dealer.Edit 2: If you wanted to give the dealer benifit of the doubt (as in, youve never ever heard a bad thing about them, and everyone you know who has used them has said good things) it could have been serviced by a dodgy mechanic in the shop, that didnt relay the issues to the dealer. Or, relayed the issues to his boss, who just said 'ah f*ck it, its sold' Edited 07/01/10 12:10 AM by Moose Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/64126-buying-from-a-reputable-dealer-lol/#findComment-968779 Share on other sites
