Hey fellas im new *waves*

Great forum guys, I am happy to hear there are heaps of people out there that appreciate the greatness of the XR6T!

I too (like sixfan) live in the NT and often drive on long stretches on the Stuart Hwy. I am currently driving my old 89EA Fairmont Ghia (done me a good 613 000 Kms) and im looking to buy a new XR6T (yummy yummy). My fuel economy at the moment is about 12.8L/100Kms and I get about 350-400k's on $50 of fuel (approx 50L with Darwin fuel prices) get about 50-100k's less when city driving.

But I understand sixfans problem. Doing Darwin - Katherine trips can chew heaps of fuel! And when bowsers are few and far between you may need to carry an extra jerrycan (or two) of fuel :)

sixfan I like your attitude ;) (it's not the rate of consumption but the volume to consume) :)

68L does seem small but then again it must be hard packaging a fuel tank under a car these days :)

Heh heh Ken 24T, thanks :D

I figured that all the XR6T nick variations were taken, so I took the first thing I saw. It was a picture of a baboon on a poster

Average about 360k DTE full tank around Town ( Sydney )

Best was on a highway run to Brisbane DTE 510 k.

Mustn't molly coddle the beast too much ?

Buy a ute - 80 litre tank. :)

Now that I have the interceptor chip done (thank you Chip Torque), apart from VASTLY improved power, my ute uses less fuel on cruising now because of the optimised fuel/ignition changes.

The best of both worlds!

Oh, and if I was remotely concerned with fuel useage, I would have bought a diesel. :D

Hey Baboon, welcome!

Best place to own a T in Australia.

Adelade river (at shell) and pine creek now stock premium I live at brocks creek, so if you're ever making your way through let me know and I'll come say Gday.

The car I had prior to the T was a series 2 Jag and It fit 50 ltrs per tank. It uses a bit more fuel than the T but I could go 600 ks on a tank.

As for getting a ute, Too late now, I often regret getting a sedan when I chat about it with my backseat passengers while I listen to the premium sound and take corners with the IRS......... :)

For sure mate! :D I'd love to see your T!

And Im sure your T would be a dream to drive on the open stretches of the Stuart Hwy. :D

...and come on, as if the "Barra" engine wasnt designed for the Territory! heh heh :D

just got back from QLD 7000km round trip. 5 people in the car and the boot BULDGING. My T averaged 10.9L/100km overall for the trip.

Consistantly getting 600km DTE sitting between 110kph up to 1?0kph on a few occassions.

Normally around town I average 350km DTE

I changed my oil and filter before I left @8000km, to Shell Helix 5W-40 full synthetic and ran on PULP all the way.

Next change I am going to try Mobil 1 0W-50

In my AUII XR6, I used to be able to do Perth to Augusta return in 1 tank (just, would have to fill up the next morning).

I have to fill up in Bunbury on the way back now :(

So yes, I'd prefer a bigger tank too, mainly so that I don't get screwed paying inflated prices for Premium fuel outside the metro area.

Lightning....
