Nsw - Speed & Red Light Camera Combo

Although everyone on here is not from NSW and this only relates to NSW the only thought I have is that the new 'flash for cash' cameras will probably make sh!t loads for a bankrup state government.

And it is not the role of the RTA to enforce the states speed limits.

My favorite quote of the year when discussing the road toll was the nsw polices official line of "we dont know why it is happening we arent doing anything different" well there lies the problem, morons booking people for minor infractions of the law wont do sh*t to address the real issues and wont reduce the road toll.

Everyone has a theory of course, but the fact is that in Germany many of the roads are speed unlimited, and Germany seems to do well in terms of road safety.

Really, why?

People are tooling around on autobahns right now at speeds in exceess of 200, 220 or even 250 and their safety is no worse than ours.

The German cars are not better; we already have the good German cars here. Normal German people drive low hatchbacks and good German cars are it appears more rare in Germany than they are here.

The speed unlimited roads are not all that amazing either to be blunt.

So, what is it the Germans can do that the rest of the world fails to grasp?

help me out here with some answers..

I think I just got busted going thru one of the combined sped red light "safety" camreas on the citywest link at haberfield. Was cruising/daydreaming with the flow of traffic but going about 70-75kph. Saw the red light and gunned it. Went thru the intersection at about 80, then slowed right down before I hit the other side as I saw the 60k sign. Pretty sure I went over the first white line while it was still yellow. No flash though and I went past about 2pm.

So would I just be busted? knowing my luck speeding and red light. 3 points each infringement plus double demerits = 12points gone lol.

I would be suprised if they had rolled out many yet, as they only announced it a month ago.

How do you know you got pinged ?

the first one on list is exactly the intersection I am worried about.

Actually Im more worried that if I loose my licence, I have an agreement with the old handbrake I would sell my car as she reckons it encourages me to speed...

Mate I do hope for you it was not installed. Or thier systems is as full of glitch's as it usually is.

But that's the reason they are saying they are needed. And it's not the wallies that have a say in fixed cameras or get the revenue.

50% of the road toll is plain driver error. STUPIDITY

If the road is bad then drive accordingly. Same as if it's wet. It's your life!

I am not sticking up for anyone or bagging. And I have probably been as bad or worse than most.

The death rate literaly makes it a war zone on the roads. If we had 400 + troops a year, let alone a season die in Afganistan, do you think we would still be there.

They keep doing these ridiculous thing to us because we just keep doing ridiculous things trying to kill ourselves out there.

I have always been taught education was the way to fix all problems. Pitty our goverment's don't have the same opinion. Closest thing our youth get to driving a car is grand theft auto on playstation. Or Tiger Woods 2010 LOL

Maybe then we could all share the same bit of tarmac and not wipe purselves out. Then we could have raised speed limits like in Europe.

The Auto bahns in Europe are regulated. And not always a go as hard as you can zone. Mostly 160 or less depending on traffic. And then we would be complaining like thier youth about being pulled over for going to quick in his car. They can do that, pull you over if you are going quicker than they think your car should be going. That would suck.

I can't understand the old "revenue raising "argument.. if a road is posted at 80 Km/Hr, and there is a speed camera in the middle and you get done, how is that revenue raising ? For sure you got to pay, but in our modern society that is what makes us think, the loss of dollars..

Someone mentioned red light camera's, fair dinkum... How can a large intersection, controlled by traffic lights be one of the states worst blackspots ? People die because others don't want to wait for 2 minutes at a set of traffic lights.. if you get done by a redlight camera, you deserve all you get...

Shame that doesnt work, considering we have more cameras than ever and the highest road toll in years.

Well, I do think the loss of dollars does work, but the fact is that we don't get caught enough, so the risk is worth it...

Also forgot to add before that it is of course my opinion only
