help me out here with some answers..

I think I just got busted going thru one of the combined sped red light "safety" camreas on the citywest link at haberfield. Was cruising/daydreaming with the flow of traffic but going about 70-75kph. Saw the red light and gunned it. Went thru the intersection at about 80, then slowed right down before I hit the other side as I saw the 60k sign. Pretty sure I went over the first white line while it was still yellow. No flash though and I went past about 2pm.

So would I just be busted? knowing my luck speeding and red light. 3 points each infringement plus double demerits = 12points gone lol.

Well the "Safety Camera" at Haberfield is definitely operating as a Speed camera at the moment. Was heading towards the city at around 9pm tonight (Wed night) and saw it flash at someone going opposite direction. He definitely had the green so he got snapped for speeding.

Strangely it wasn't the newer red digital flash that you see (like the camera on Liverpool road Ashfield) that can take a pic in both directions. It was the older bright white flash that can only snap you from behind, as they're way too bright to be taken front on. So the whole argument of "let's update the old wet film red light cameras with new digital cameras" is interesting considering they haven't extended this to the camera's 'speed camera' function.

Hope you didn't get snagged.

I wonder which statistics support that when you speed up to avoid a red light camera you ram the car in front?

if the motivation was to catch unsafe/late intersection crossers, isnt the red light camera function sufficient ?

Simple response ...............................Revenue raising and cars are easy targets as opposed to fighting real crime yes-sir.gif

But the law states that you DON'T speed up. An urban myth created by taxi's chasing jobsw00t2.gif You have always been able to be pinged for doing it. I guess the wallies ignored it so much they went around them.

I hope so too, although I did get sent one of those emails talking about the ned safety cameras and there locations and that wasnt on there. But then again its just a stupid chain email.

I guess it usually takes them 3-4weeks to send you out a fine. So another week or so without one and I reckon Im clear.

Just because you speed up for a few metres, it doesnt mean you have to floor it or exceed the signed speed limit, by a large margin.Perhaps you are merely avoiding a rear ended prang which is commun when red light cameras are well signed and drivers are paranoid of getting flashed and brake like they are just about to drive of a cliff

Sorry don't get me wrong.

I think they are ridiculous and will cause more accidents. Even to the point where there would never have been one. As you say people diving on their brakes trying not to get done.

The police had enough sense to leave it alone.

The grubby, greedy little politicians on the other hand.

I think rear enders at lights are the most common accident at lights as it is already.

Probably the most common accident there is.

How they cannot see it amazes me. Hopefully the statistics will show them. there all for statistics. Specially when they go their way.

Am doing a data analysis subject at the moment, and it's mind boggling the amount of stuff that they don't tell you about these statistics that come out of government sanctioned reports and studies. Data sampling that goes against all well-developed principles and models, and no mention of confidence levels etc. Basically means it's worthless dribble. Same applies for global warming but we best keep that for another topic :buttrock:

Your best bet is to just ignore the 'statistics', believe whatever crap is churned out in the propaganda, bend over, lube up & hope for the best. With a nation full (almost) of left-wing governments it's only going to get worse.

LOL exactly.

And these gov sanctioned reports are done by private enterprises.

Like "Who" would bite the hand that feeds them.

Lets get rid of Kev and throw a towel over abbots shoulder and some zinc on his nose, pack him a spare pair of budgie smuglers and send him to the next G8

Never really liked him but his stock is rising
