Most calculate a turbo vehicle at 1.6x the capacity, you may want to double check to make sure it is 100% ok.

P plate drivers and probationary prohibited vehicles : VicRoads

Nah in the clause it says

A vehicle which has;

a power to mass ratio which exceeds 125 kW per tonne; or

an engine capacity which exceeds 3.5 litres per tonne of the unladen mass (tare) of the motor vehicle

As long as a F6 exceeds one of these items it is not legal to drive on your P's.

People need to learn from other people mistakes but it doesn't seem to catch on here.

Lozza, I think you were very lucky on the claims you made and I think you are the exception not the rule in that case.

Go to this page:

High powered vehicle restrictions that apply if you obtained your probationary licence before 1 July 2007 | Arrive Alive

And read the first paragraph.

Drivers who were issued a probationary licence prior to 1 July 2007 may drive a vehicle if it is not a high powered vehicle as defined by either definition. If a vehicle is defined as high powered under one definition but not the other, it may be driven.

Definition of a high powered vehicle (prior to 1 July 2007)

a power to mass ratio which exceeds 125 kilowatts per tonne; or

an engine capacity which exceeds 3.5 litres per tonne of the unladen mass (tare) of the motor vehicle

Oh and in relation to your link.

The definition of a probationary prohibited vehicle changed on 1 July 2007. Drivers who obtained a probationary licence prior to 1 July 2007 can drive a vehicle, providing it is not prohibited as defined by both definitions below.

Defined by BOTH definitions.

Although this is some sort of a grey area, I have had many cops see me driving my phoon and havent been pulled over once, twice they followed me for about 10 minutes then just turned off. I honestly do believe I'm right, but if someone else can prove me wrong I would like to know, as I'm driving mine atm.

The way it is worded it seems you are correct BUT on calculations practically EVERY car can be driven by P-Platers.

Even a 317kw HSV GTS that weighs 1777kg's only has 3.376 litres per tonne.

Well most of the pre 010707 drivers will be on full licenses this year, so the point is almost mute
