On Thursday just gone I took the Turbs, the missus and a couple of mates we just had dinner with down to Newie for a cruise and a McFlurry. We planned to go eat it on the foreshore. When we got there holy f***n hell there were kids and cars everywhere. It took about 35 minutes to get from the Customs up to the fort. Some nice cars, bikes, min trucks, jap crap, a few rotors f*ck me I've never seen anything like it out side of Summernats. Is this a regular thing down there now? Looks like everyone was having fun although there were a few f*ck heads there leaning on peoples cars. The Police were noticably absent at least while we were there, dunno if they were adopting a hands off approach or not. We saw one paddy wagon go through and didn't seem too worried at all. I hope that long talked about drag strip that is planned (and recently apporved) for the the Terrace goes ahead and the kids have a place to go get there game on.

PS there was a few XR6T's there too, curteous nods were exchanged :beerchug:

This is a regular thing Rhino. It's packed in there every Thursday night. It's entertaining to see all the cars but there are some knobs driving around in there doing stupid things in Mum and Dad's cars. The police target this night and area quite a lot. Not really a spot I frequent mainly due to the police presence and eagerness to issue defects. In saying this there are quite a few sensible people that head in also but everyone is tarred with the same brush.

Thanks Benny. I've only lived here a bit longer than 18 months and never been down on a Thursday before mainly due to work. I got a real surprise and your totally right, even the good guys get lumped in with the wankers at things like this. I won't be going back cause there were drunks bashing on peoples cars as they drove past and I'd be up for assault if they bashed on my baby. It would be good to have a proper venue around Newie for racing and burnouts, at least it will give the young fellas/girls somewhere to blow off some steam without getting hurt or getting into trouble. Plus all the little try hards in Mum and Dad's cars would probably just piss off.

Thursday friday saturday nights are busy but Sunday afternoons are the worst. You can hardly move either direction along the foreshore, and there are a lot more nice cars out on the Sunday too.

I used to hang in there around 10-15 years ago (back when I drove a V8 LOL) always had hot cars and mostly V8's and hot 6's... started to get an influx of ricers mid to late 90's. Ive been for a drive in the Phoon a few times on sunday arvo's recently and its no where like it used to be.. too many wankers in there now and that's why it attracts the attention of the boys in blue.

Used to frequent kooragang a bit back then too but stopped that the day they changed the laws and began confiscating cars.

not interested in hanging out at either place much now .. gettin too old for that sh*t LOL ripe old age of 34 :brightidea:
