Hey was just wondering if anyone has had this before, since a quick engine wash the thing wont idle smoothly or rev past 2000rpm, only just limped it back the the shop. :stirthepot: its throwing tps codes but all power and references signals seem to read ok. have checked all connectors for moisture and all ok. seems to be in a limp mode and cause of the rough running is from running mega lean. still going through the manual now but I thought I'd put this up for some more help,

any help would be great! :finger:

wet coil packs. Take them out. wd40 the sh*t out of the inside of the coil and the spark plug recess. :stirthepot:

cheers mate, im dont think its spark related though. when it does rev to 2k it runs smooth. I will be checking that though.

more then likely it is water under the cover and into the coil packs , pull the cross over off and remove cover and pull the coils out and dry everything I did the same thing to the work ute the other day when I got it .

I had similar symptoms to what you're describing a couple of months ago after running through a flooded road - rough idle but OK once moving above 2K revs or cruising.

In the end, it was a couple of things - the throttle body motor and map sensor needing to be replaced, though I'd be suprised if you damaged these just by going through a wash :blaah:

Off topic: mods can swear in posts! lol...hey luke :blaah:

I'm scared of washing my engine for this reason...would have to plastic wrap a lot of parts I think.

meh. I've done it heaps. Just make sure its reasonably cool (alloy head!) and dont aim the washer at the coil packs/alternator/fuse box/computer for any length of time. I usually let mine cool with the bonnet up for a bit, then wash the entire bay and wash the rest of the car while it dries, never had a problem. A nice thin coat of wd-40 on plastic parts really make it shine aswell.
