Fg F6 Induction Sounds Just Got Louder!

I have a reasonably new FG F6 and have only recently been getting into the higher rev range and have noticed the induction noise seems much louder than while running in.

It actually sounds and feels great but I am worried there is a leak somewhere. I have checked all the joins from the airbox to the turbo plus the boost seems normal. It makes no real induction noise while revving the car at a standstill but have a listen to this!

This was taken on a iphone in 2nd and 3rd with the window down. Does this sound normal or should I be worried?

Cheers,

Alex

I have an FG F6 and mine doesnt sound quite like that... there is a definate whistle in the higher rev range but that sounds like a whole heap of boost escaping Id run with the idea of checking your turbo for loose fittings.

The only hose I found to be at all loose was directly off the back of the airbox. I tightened it and went for a drive but the noise is still there. 310_FSX can you have a look at this hose for me and let me know if it goes over the plastics lugs on the airbox outlet or sits up against them?

I have included some pics of mine where you can see th plastic lugs.

I have recently changed my factory air box for an SS inductions type. (If you like noise you would enjoy one of these) If I can remember correctly when I was changing it over the connection of the hose to the air box just sits up against the lugs. On the throttle body end the piping is different and has a locator lug assembly which keeps the pipe in the correct plane so to speak. From the noise I was hearing on your recording I would be looking the other side of the block where your turbo connections are. Sounded like air escaping under pressure rather than being drawn in. But hey if your just running in I would be getting the dealer to cast an eye over it... dont want to risk anything nasty happening

I don't think it would do any damage but I'd think with a boost leak you're also loosing some power.

Take it to a dealer and take them for a drive.

Not as easy on our cars as the one in this vid due to turbo location, but you could try this at home and find the leak yourself.
