Kickdown is very reluctant, and overall there does not appear to be any gains! Not sure how a manual will react! When adding a pressure controller after the boost control valve, and increasing boost very moderately (less than2 psi) there is a slight power increase during initial acceleration, but this is capped by the ECU once full boost is reached (probably by retarding ignition) so that the end result is actually a slower car.Throttle response was improved slightly, and the turbo came on a little more quickly, so it could appear as if the factory setting opens the wastegate very gradually. I will play around a little further with a pressure relief valve set at say 4-5 psi, which would mean that the wastegate is prevented from opening until the boost reaches 4-5 psi or whatever I measure factory settings to be.I have done this sort of thing before in Europe, and in fact I converted a Ford 2000 EFI to turbo some years ago, so I guess I have some experience in the field, but I will once again repeat my warning to the inexperienced DON'T PLAY - YOU MAY PAY!Overall I am happy with the performance of the vehicle, and I'm not looking to "boost its brain out", just a bit curious as to how the thing works. Guest esky Guests Posted 16/01/03 08:53 PM Share Posted 16/01/03 08:53 PM ninka,Interesting results. I have seen very simular response with the Barra240 when playing with boost options. The dyno outputs don't lie. This is one hard nut to crack. Anyway I'm happy with the power of the car as is. It's not the fastest thing on the road, but street presence is priceless. I'm not interested in turning the thing into a grenade either! I wouldn't mind comparing notes and have a look at you rexperiments.
