(Sydney)...1.5 mb/s down - .30 up... Keep in mind guys there is a lot of factors to 'true' speed and not just what speedtest.net gives u as a read out...Check your ping times, line noise, how many systems are running on the one connection at the time of your test (Modem direct to a pc, v's modem -> router -> switch, voip box, other network activity, wireless A/B/G whatever...)Anyone with ADSL2 running a 4 or 5 meg + connection with a 500kb-1mb+ down has a pretty reasonable connection speed as a general guide...ADSL (1) - 256/512/1 mb - all depends on your connection speed your paying for...Remember if your over your cap - you may be testing a throttled line speed also... Donating Members 2,852 Member For: 17y 22d Gender: Male Location: Vic Somewhere - Sometimes NSW Posted 03/12/09 01:46 AM Share Posted 03/12/09 01:46 AM Keep in mind that the rankings are not really all that accurate (when I last looked a long time ago).The ratio of the benchmarks is not consistent, and therefor can really be accepted as correct.If 100 people in Oz all use ADSL 2+ or cable connections for example and only one person in where ever used a cable connection of course they would be ranked higher then the average of 100 people in Oz.Yes we have a HUGE FARTING internet issue here in Oz and its a shame that the likes of Telstra never did the job right in the first place (or government I should say)...I still know of people in locations like Albury/Wodonga they are unable to gain access to adsl2 lines, not to mention people in places like 5 mins out side of Holbrook that are still using Dial Up!Its a JOKE!But one of those things... on top of all this - lets go and slow the world even more by filtering it!simply - someone needs to be SHOT over all this!!!!! BTW - those with IINET - check in your toolbox, under the broadband tab, there is an option called "connection speed manager"....Might help with gaming, dl speed, line connection ping, etc...
