Lets go ken, maybe if we book a few cars in they may consider a group discount, what do you think?

In my usual, careful way, I want to research this product, e.g., options, cost, effect on existing system, warranty issues, etc., etc., ... but on face value, it's seems like something I'd definately do (if there were no show-stoppers).

It's a pretty big investment, so I'm not sure how many interested ppl we'd get? Not sure how many we'd need to get a significant discount either? :longlaugh:

That sounds great, I wonder if you'd be able to get a tv tuner as well?

Blaupunkt told me that a TV tuner wasn't available through them but a non-Blaupunkt unit would work.

I'm dying to see one in the flesh and see if it is as good as it sounds!!!

Host the vid Brett (XR6na)!

Put me down as interested. It's still very steep I reckon. You can get very good aftermarket systems for a lot less. It's just because this is the only unit availabe for BA that makes it expensive.

I don't think those prices are too steep at all - remember they are the RRP. Blaupunkt gear is top shelf - I have a couple of their units and the quality is as good as it gets and very easy to operate, unlike some of the Asian units on the market.

Next week I will check out the part nos. and see what I can do for a bulk buy and let you guys know ...

This sounds insane!

What an awesome system! This is going to have to go into the Turbs!

Does anyone know what they actually install to get it to take over the screen? Do they pull the dash apart or something wired under the seat? The Blaupunkt site doesn't really say much about how this great feature is achieved.

Hi Guys,

To answer some of your questions regarding the BA interface.

No dashboard modifications are done.

You can even install the system without removing the Radio/Display assy.

The Blaupunkt system even uses the factory IR.

Audio is via the AuX input on the factory system - You can buy a lead from ford to activate this feature on you cars now! P/N BA 289455 AA

The system it activated/deactivated by pushing and holding one of the remote buttons for three seconds. - This removes the need to add ugly switches!

All the factory screen information is overlayed when needed. E.G. If you are watching a DVD and you adjust the heater, the heater info will appear in a window over the DVD images for a few seconds.

The Blaupunkt navigation system is fast and easy to use. It actually won the fasted dynamic navigation system in Europe in 2002! This is a quality built unit - Same unit as the Mercs - Made in Germany!

For the technical Gurus - The input to the factory screen is RGB + Sync format.

Blaupunkt can offer DVD playback because they make the IVSC 5501 signal converter. _ This unit allsow you to add a further 4 Blaupunkt screens and 4 more A/V inputs for the ultimate rear seat entertainment.

You can connect a reverse cammera also! (Must be NSTC output at this stage).

On the topic of TV tuner playback - I have not tested this yet so I am not going to say YES or NO. There is a possibilty that I will not work due to the 50 - 60 Hz refresh difference. I will keep you informed!

I recomend the system is installed by a Blaupunkt dealer as they have more knowledge when it comes to installing Blau nav systems.

Now on a personal note:

I love turbo fords  In 94 I owned an XE turbo with a T5. This was insane!! Sideways in third!! You can imagine how exited I was when Ford finally released the XR6-T. I went straight to a Ford dealer who lent me an XR-6 T for 4 hours on my own. I Won't say any more in case they give me bill for the tyres :o

My latest project is a 4.1 EFI Turbo in a TD cortina.

My next car will have to be a XR6-T ;)

Bye
