G'day lads.

Just noted something interesting. Every now and then I log on to Discount New Cars (Their Site) and hit the XR6 Turbo, and check on the options I want just to remind myself of why I work away in my Dilbertian cubicle (I use their site because it's faster than Ford's to load and update)

Anyways, of course their thing is to offer big buying power to us plebs. But also the XR6T being the fantastic car that it is, discounts have been few and far between and they have registered the available discount as $0.

They now offer a discount of $1000. I know some here have gotten better, but still...goes to show that the WOW factor does wear off eventually for the market.

Just a small tidbit.

Have a good'un.

Matt.

Silly Ford Australia!

They are quite happy to sell off the XR6, Turbo and XR8 but have forgotten about the private buyer who wants a performance car without the insurance and image hassles.

The XR6 NA is their top seller.

That's because it has more features, looks racier and has a better tyre/suspension package than an optioned up XT.

If Ford were fair dinkum aout selling the XT they would not offer the generous factory bonuses on the XT, but make a sports version of the XT (proposed name XTGS)

This would appeal to people that can't go the extra dollar for an XR, don't want the insurance problems with an XR and those who want the advantage of a strong NA 6 or Triton V8 with a bit better weight advantage and optioned with sports suspension and wheels.

Good for XT buyers, great for XR buyers (keeps the value up) and even better for Ford!

How about it or is that too sensible for Ford Australia!

*nods* An XT equipped with the sports suspension pack, some alloys comes up to be almost the same money as an XR6NA.

Add in the XR specific stuff and the better resale and well....

Maybe a 'SR' pack or something will come sooner or later (in time for Series 2)

yeah I was talkin to the ford dealer and he said that they were finding xt's harder to sell than all others of the ba range.

I think they should bring back one of the following: the S, the SR, the Classic, the olympic classic, the sapphire and the fairmont wagon.

when you think about it, ford don't really offer much range in the BA's.

Even the fairlaine looks like a stretched out fairmont! <_<

Surely if you specced up an XT with alloys, sports suspension and maybe a rear wing insurance companies would cotton on and charge higher premiums accordingly? All these things make the car more atttractive to thieves and also being of a sporty nature also attract younger buyers, people that might drive them a bit harder making them more likely to have an accident. Yet another reason for insurance companies to bend us over.
