Or either that , once the engine is stopped, the oil pressure fed turbo gets abit down on the lube side thus allowing the noise to be heard

This doesn't sound good for Turbo longetivity.

But the spindown noise is rather rattley and undamped so you may be right :rolleyes:

Nothing to really worry about mate, Im sure that's why they used ball bearing turbo's instead of bronze bushes, as they will run alot longer with minimal damage with minimal lube. I have seen accumulator type oiling systems where they store pressurized oil that bleeds out once the ignition is stopped , providing protection for turbos
