Ba-Bf Xr6 Typhoon Intercooler On Ebay

G'day,

I am looking at purchasing a BA-BF XR6 Typhoon intercooler from Ebay to replace my factory XR6 Turbo intercooler. My question is how do I tell from a picture if it is genuinely a tyhpoon intercooler? The seller has a picture of it with a serial number and a product number with a FPV logo. But anyone can stick a picture on there!!

I presume a typhoon intercooler is slightly bigger then the factory xr6 cooler. Is this correct? I am just after a better cooling and flow without spending big bucks.

Any advice will be good.

They are bigger than an XR6T intercooler but they still aren't as efficient as any number of aftermarket ones.

Where are you located mate.

There are probably a few members here that may have one available. Possibly in your area. I took one off a mates car yesterday actually. When you pick it up you would be able to see the car it came off.

Looks to be a standard XR6 turbo cooler to me. The airbox is definitely not off a typhoon, as they have an extra snorkel fitted.

Crappy angle on the photo. The Typhoon coolers aren't black and they are a 1/3 bigger (or there abouts) than a standard XR cooler.

You could also go a Monza ( WOG) cooler. It wont break the bank and will bolt up like a stock one.

Perhaps wack a Want to Buy for a Typhoon or Wog cooler and see what comes up!

Or, buy this one!

Hey, you do know that your car will require a flash tune if you put this on your car right ?

So many people here replace the intercooler and/or exhaust and wonder why they overboost, only to find out these minor mods upset the car.

You cannot do much more than an airfilter without upsetting the ECU and putting the car into limp mode when it boosts.

Make sure you factor in an Flash tuner and whatever other mods you plan, then get it all installed and tuned in one hit. This will save multiple custom tunes.

Also do not buy a F6 cooler unless you only plan very light mods (aka no injectors) as you will only need to buy a bigger cooler if you want anything more than 280rwkw.

I didn't think that cooler looked like a typhoon one. It's sold anyway. Lucky I didn't buy it.

I don't plan on making big mods.

I am currently running a CAPA 10psi generic. Car is running well.

Will that WOG cooler be safe to run on this tune? I just presumed something slightly bigger then the factory like a typhoon one will be OK as it shouldn't give me more power but power for longer.
