Very dangerous if you dont have the right weight/load index. It costs more in the structural integrity of the tyre to have the higher load index.

At least 93 for these cars.

But from memory the Direzza's are 89W's

I think you can use 91's and 89's on the B series so they are fine...

Can even go lower I think... ???

(89= just under 600kgs)

Even 85 = 515kg, which is ok (if im not mistaken) - falcon is around the 1600kg....

I believe that's enough, considering there is no rating on the tyre plate on these cars...

Doesnt that pass RTA/NSW Regulations IB?

I think the ones on there at the moment are 93W, as are all the ones I've been looking at from what I recall so shouldn't be a problem.

Just got my shipping quote - $208.89USD. I've asked what it would cost to send in 2 lots so that each is under the value of $1000... will see what they say.

As it turns out, it costs more to ship 2 tyres than 4! $208 for all 4, vs 2 x $218 to do 2 lots of 2!

How the hell does that work??!!

I'd say it would have something to do with pallet size, they may charge you more to take up the same space in a container with less items on it...

I pay $185 fitted an balances for these FTZ Sport Evol-8 - Ultra High Performance Silica

in 18" find them very good in both the wet and dry and we have a good mate at Silverstone

Be careful doing 2 lots, customs can still pull you up if you get multiple packages totalling over the $1000 limit arriving at around the same time.

They also include freight cost when calculating the value of the item ($900AU item + $200AU postage = $1100AU value according to them).

I've discovered that the 'estimate' of customs duty, which I found from another forum, of about 15%, INCLUDES GST.

Which really doesn't bother me, as my car is salary packaged so I claim the GST back anyway :werd:

Thus the only real cost is 5% customs duty... so I will just do it in the one single lot.

Well I but the bullet and ordered from Tire Rack - just got the receipt this morning after a visit to ANZ's Bureau de Change yesterday.

4 x Goodyear Asymmetric in the 245/35/19, including the cost to make the International Wire Transfer (no, no PayPal sadly) plus getting bent over on the exchange rate (not so bad, the rate they give you is about 1.5% worse than the actual rate)... a tick over $1400AUD shipped.

Note that is SHIPPED, not LANDED. Customs duty would be around $70 I think, GST is neglible as I claim it back.

Deliver is 3-5 business days via FedEx Economy apparently.

Will keep you all posted.

Ron, that makes the deal unattractive after all the costs.

The GST is 10% on the value of the items + the Duty is payable on the total landed costs (less GST).

From my calcualtions this would add another $280 to the $1400, making the cost $420 per tyre.

I paid $480 fitted and balanced for the same tyre. For all the hassel, I do not see a huge saving to be gained from this.

I hope I am wrong about the taxes, but this is what they charge for anything over a $1000 landed value.
