Charging for a wheel rotation is a bit opportunistic! - they have to take the wheels off anyway to check other things whilst doing the routine service. that's what my dealer Service Mgr told me anyway and they didnt charge for it and it prints out on the service docket as part of the std service.

However, like yourself Voy, I have one slightly marked wheel, and they didnt actually do it at the 15k service - much to the service managers dis-belief. But there were no quibbles to get it redone.

At my 30K service they said they have found that the XR's tyres often wear evenly and dont need a rotation (17inch, dont know about the 18's).

Just had the call from Jarvis - I voiced my concerns about the oil that they have used and that the tyre rotation wasnt done - despite getting charged for it.

I also said I had several concerns that I'd prefer not to discuss over the phone and that I'd prefer to discuss this in person.

She's booked in 2morrow to get these things rectified....I'm hoping that all goes well...for their sake and mine.

I'll continue to post here after the service is completed and let every1 know whats going on.

I did my own tyre rotation at 15,000 and recorded the wear, just had a look as it is at 35000 km now and they don't need rotating. Definitely getting more wear on the rear tyres and nil scrubbing on the fronts but I should be due for rears just before fronts. Probably put the fronts on the rears, new on the front and turn the old rears into air pollution over a two week period. It is called 'planned tyre wear'.

But yes, I agree, the car does treat the tyres very evenly..... if you don't drive like a complete bas*ard!

Yet another big plus over the crummydore..... Everyone I know with a VT~VY SS has real wear problems with the front tyres....

They always scrub the outer edges. Very uneven wear.

ok ppl....ive printed out a copy of this thread and I've got notes all over a piece of paper to take into them 2morrow.

These are the things I'll be questioning 2morrow:

The total cost of the service - I've gone through the entire thread and have averaged out all the prices people have quoted and got an average of $222...theres a difference there of $220

I then worked out an average for teh adelaide dealerships - that came in at $319....difference of $123

Next is the wheel alignment - again - every1's figures totaled up to an average of $63 ...adelaides average was $75 - difference of $22

Theres also the issue of getting charged for 2.5 hours of labour when 2 is specified in the service manual - will be querying why this is.

And lastly theres the $170 standard servicing price manual thing they gave me when I received the car.....I would like to know why this doesnt apply to me.

All in all a most informative thread. Again - will let u all know how it pans out.

Cheers all

Cain

We went to Adelaide to buy an XR8 Sprint and used Maughn Thiem as a (then) Tickford liason place to check the details of said car.

The were exceedingly helpful did alot of checking, reccomended things to do in Adelaide and the place was HUGE and IMMACULATE! The even gave us a good deal on the labour costs and this was for a couple of guys from the *shock* EASTERN STATES.

Can't reccomend them enough.

Best of luck Voy.
