Gday, I Reciently had my car tuned and the tuner said my car would get to 15psi and that's all.

I Drove it away and I gave it a bit and the boost gave spiked past the 20PSI and time it spikes all around up to 20psi.

I Called him up and he said the computer said it would get to 15.2psi and that's all, and my guage is probly fked, So I brought another new Caliber (Supercheap auto) guage and its still doing the same.

Has anyone had this problem with the "Caliber" type guages?

mate I am having the exact same problem with the exact same boost gauge, all I have been told is that the actuator needs to be fixed, my boost gauge always read right on standard boost so im not really sure mate.

ps I got the one with the red dial and the blue backing light, suits the stanard cluster nicely.

doesn't sound like a boost gauge issue, more like the actuator or you need the wastegate ported. I wouldn't let it see 20psi again, very bad for your engine!

If two gauges both say 20+PSI when you boot it, I'd agree with xhxrsix and say you need to get your wastegate/actuator sorted out.

It should be overboosting on the dyno as well so it should have been picked up during tuning as well, I think?

I was having a similar problem, but it would only over boost it 4th. It turned out to be the the values for the boost solenoid were not harsh enough to prevent the boost from running away.

well when I first got my car tuned it was ok, then over time it got worse and worse, I figure over time the standard actuator couldnt handle the extra boost and is starting to let go.

2 things.

Where in the intake system is your gauger plumbed into?

Where in the intake system did the mechanic take the reading?

Could be as simple as a pressure drop accross the intercooler, hence both readings are correct.
