Hey Guys,

I own a 2004 ba XR6 Turbo 4sp Auto. It is an ex-Police car. As a daily driver to and from work witch is 90% freeway kms I only seem to pull 500kms from a tank. Took it on a trip and only got 580kms to a tank. Would love to know what other turbo 6`s are gettin out of a tank? and any ideas how to pull more econemy out of this hungry thing? Think it drinks more then I do.

Without knowing any if any mod's ill put my 2 cents forward. First by increasing engine efficiency will help no end. A free flowing exhaust system with a quality intake system, and filter (seen the process west cold air intake and looks bloody fantastic)will help economy and performance, if funds allow go to a quality tuner, again increased efficiency means less throttle, Cheers

Mate,

We didn't buy these things for fuel economy! Until you flash tune it you can't extract any more horsepower or economy because the ECU won't let the engine tune deviate from the factory settings. Having said that once you tune it your fuel economy really goes out the window because it is so much more fun to drive harder than before!!

If you want better fuel economy never use your brake and use the boost of the car to accelerate not revs if that makes any sense.

I have seen people driving along accelerating and braking between 70-80kph for about 3ks while I just have light trottle using about 1/4 of the fuel.

Now around town I get about 450-500k's to a tank but on the open road I have averaged 9litres/100ks which actually saw me get nearly 700k's out of 1 tank. Its all about your driving style.

I have been driving mine like a granny, because if I even give it a little bit of WOT around town I'm lucky to get 300km out of tank. Get around 350 - 400k driving it like a granny...

umm that's not good! my ba fairmont ghia 4l would average 14.2l/100km

now my 350rwkw xr6t averages 13.5!

mods are our friend when it comes to xr6t's

You got nothing to worry about with 450 - 500 k's from a tank...these things weren't built for economy, however as said, improvements can be made. I use less fuel then when the car was standard even with an extra 120 or so KW over factory ...

I saw just over 9l/100 on a trip at christmas ... that that was with a fooked cat...
