Sloppy Gear Change

Hey Guys

Just after anyone that might have any ideas on two issues I'm having at the moment with the ol ba mark2

1. The last few months every time after I fill up a full tank of fuel, for the next 3 or 4 days I can smell petrol as soon as im 5 metres from the car?? Hangs around for a few days and then as the tank gets lower slowly fades away. Vapour leak?? fuel line?

2. And more importantly. The other day I decided to really give it some and so I shifted into the sports mode and reved her out in first as far as she would go which ended up in the rev limiter cutting in. Ever since then if I decide to give it some and put my foot flat to the floor, it drops down to the lower gear and then coughs and splutters before really getting into the gear and taking off smoothly...?? What could this be?

If you guys put foot flat to floor does it shift through the gears smoothly? I dont usually drive it too hard but im almost 90%sure it never used to do that.

Anywas any advise would be appreciated

oh and p.s. any ideas on how to fix a sagging front bumper?

I had a BA that cracked around the top of the tank where the sender unit/fuel pump goes in.

Could only notice it when the tank was filled as fuel would pool under the car.

May be worth a look. Remove the rear seat and pull the grommet from the floor and see if there's any evidence of fuel around the top of the sender unit cover.
