I have also noticed that the steering wheel is loose and I recently had a wheel alignment to try and straighten up the steering wheel but that still dosnt sit straight when the wheels are straight . I was thinking maybe ball joints, and maybe the uni joint in the steering but not 100% and for the uni joint to go at 750000 is a tad weird. but any ideas would be much appreciated

I didn't hit any gutters with it either but the gear in the rack and pinion was shagged so I took it to a steering parts supplier in Brisbane and had them replace just the rack and pinion. Cost was about $380-400 fitted and all is fixed.Pedders quoted me $1000 for the same job!Buy the part from a steering supplier and get your dad to fit it if you want to save $100 or so.I think the rack and pinion click has always been a flaw with the fords as my EF, AU and the BA have all had the clicking but only the BA has had the clunk as I didn't have the other two long enough! Its the two bolts that go into the cross member
