Guest Al@n Guests Posted 12/11/09 12:40 PM Share Posted 12/11/09 12:40 PM You could be onto something there, you don't see to many blueprints gettin around these days And for the record I think ravenhard's pretty much on the money. This discussion is now starting to show some very good thinking. Your suggestion is now starting to refine this into a valuable viewpoint. This could actually be a thread that in many years create a social construction. This indeed could direct peolpe in a certain direction for decision making, we done great comment, cheers.

It's true that white silver and black are probably the most popular colours on new cars. However I think better resale is reached on cars other than white and silver certainly, maybe not so much black.. It does depend on the car style and the buyer it is appealing to off course. I have had a red AUII XR8 and a Mandarin BAII XR8* and had no problems at all selling them for a good price, and the colour was a main factor as stated by the buyer! But I know of other people who have trouble selling the white and silver XR's. OK there are a lot of factors to consider in selling a car, but an interesting point. Other views on this? I think all the "T" versions of the I6 will be desireable. Collectable is probably a hard ask as there is a lot of them around. But when the I6 engine stops production they will certainly have better resale. I think they are just a great car to keep for yourself. So much you can do with them. I buy a new car every 4 years. This is the first one I'm really thnking about keeping - maybe forever, and just buy another daily drive for work etc. The new V6 will have to be something really special to overtake just how good the I6 platform is. Guest Al@n Guests Posted 13/11/09 03:13 AM Share Posted 13/11/09 03:13 AM This is an interesting point, in regard to the I6 platform. Due to good availability for parts in the future I suspect as already mentioned that the Turbo Falcon reach and exceed VL proportions. However, it is interesting to note in the late eighties a VL turbo was actually cheaper to buy than a NA, as insurance premiums at the time were sky high. With this expectation of cult status, collectors will seek to source unique vehicles. Therefore, the question is which ones, and in what colour. Now that is rare.
mercuryturbo Oh look.... a real car, with no hair dryer Donating Members 1,724 Member For: 18y 4m 23d Gender: Male Location: Fear and Loathing in Callala Bay Posted 13/11/09 06:02 AM Share Posted 13/11/09 06:02 AM To say that their going to be worth nothing in 30 years time is pretty short-sighted. Theres going to bugger all of these things around by that time so they have be collectable by then. Maybe not GTHO or XY GT collectable but even a XA/B/C hardtop in need of resto is pulling pretty serious money nowdays & they were flat-out giving them things away 20 years ago. Wouldn't mind some proof of that?As far as old XBs and the like gaining value I think it has something to do with metal over plastic. These old collectible muscle cars and mostly metal, not half plastic (bumbers, skirts wings etc..)To me it's like saying a 96 magna will be worth something in 20 years, it's just a pipe dream.Maybe the GT40's, Cobras and a few GT/F6's in rarer colour/gearbox combos but that's about it.If a BA XRT is worth 50k in 30 years I think I would die of shock.
