Picked up my new baby on Thursday! Arrived at the dealers in Launceston mid afternoon with the family in tow, including my two boys aged 11 & 7 who had no idea what was going on!! Drove into the showroom parking bay, and the first thing they said was "Wow Dad, look at that blue one!" Sure enough, there she was out front, shining in the afternoon sun, tinted, rego'd and ready to go!! When I told them that was our new car, their eyes nearly popped

I'm 42 years old and have been driving for 25 years, but believe it or not, this is my first brand new car!!

You guys have already experienced the feeling, but the smell, the feel, the interior, was better than I could have imagined. I went for Plexis Grey cloth instead of the Blueprint, and it looks great, a little more subtle and easier on the eye IMO. After the paperwork and normal dealer familiarisation run through, they filled it with fuel, I checked all the settings, and eased her out on to the road for the first time. The first thing that struck me was the ride quality, the smoothness and quietness, and sheer ease with which she travels. My nervous right foot didn't allow too much with so few k's up, but I could just tell that the power would be there when I wanted it. We had planned a few days break at a nearby resort, so I drove the 20 odd k's there just getting used to the feel of the car - and being stared at wherever I went! B) There's a lot fewer XR's on the road down here in Tassie, especially Turbos, so you do get noticed!

Drove home to Hobart on Saturday, and was able to do a bit of the running in thing along the way. Was gentle for most of it though, with a couple of squirts on overtaking just to get the buzz happening again. My 11 year old in the passenger seat just grinned for the whole two hour trip, whilst the 7 yo in the back seat fell asleep!!

Meanwhile, swmbo kept switching from behind me to in front in her Corolla so that she could decide which was the best view! Got home and gave her a wash with the good old Meguiars (the car, not the wife :D ) - did find a paint blemish and a chip :( that I'm going to have a discussion with the dealer about, but they have been great so far, so am not expecting any problems. Drove her to work today - can't get the smile off my face!!!

The best things? The whole package just looks and feels so good, love the colour (Blueprint), the Premium Sound (worth every cent, although I love music, I'm no audiophile!), the feel and look of the Sports steering wheel - a must have IMO. Even the little things like the Boot liner is, I think, well worth getting.

Oh well, must go and "visit some more clients" if you know what I mean!!

Cheers,

Tim.

Congratulations Timbo!!! Great to finally have another Tassie T owner at the forums!

I've had mine for nearly 6 months now and still haven’t gotten used to the awesome feeling of sitting behind the wheel. You're in for months of pure joy (I suspect you know that already :) )

Can't wait to see your Blueprint Beast in the flesh. If ya see a Mercury Silver T with 18's flash it’s lights, you know it’s me saying Gday B)
