Misfire Forming After Hard Acceleration In 1St

Guys, if I accelerate hard in manual mode (fg f6 zf auto) from 1st to 2nd, the car quiet often misfires as soon as it hits 2nd gear and I cannot accelerate.

If I come to a standstill after this, the engine will misfire resulting in a lumpy idle. It usually goes away in around 20 seconds however sometimes the engine light will flash for 20 seconds or so and then also go away.

However, If I lift off the accelerator during the 1st to 2nd gear change, it wont do this. 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th change fine btw.

I am thinking it is either the spark plugs need to be regapped due to my custom tune and running higher boost, or it is an issue with the zf tranny causing the engine to misfire during the hard gear change. This is probable as the ecu and zf are not playing very well in the f6 as alot of people already know.

Anyone got any new ideas. I will probably re gap the plugs anyway but wanted to see your opinions.

Thanks

If it's not the plugs, it will probably be the coil packs...coils need to work harder to maintain the spark after a tune so they will start to show their nasty side if their feeling a little sad.

it wouldnt be springs in an FG... not unless your pushing 350+ kw..

sounds like plugs or coils. they should have been gapped when tuned, better yet replaced with the .8mm versions.

if your tuner didnt do this, find a new tuner mate..... that's BASIC sh*t hes skimped on.

What kind of misfire is it? Does it sound like 1 cylinder dropping out or multiple cylinders dropping out?

Over the last 3 years and 70,000km I've had 4 "sets" of coils fail but never had a plug fail.

Mine's dead stock with a tune and it does it too, but only occasionally when I flog the pants off it in 1st to 2nd. It's got everyone stumped. Could be something to do with removing the torque reduction spark thingy that makes it fart? Who knows

There is a viper coloured F6 a couple of streets away from me and his makes all sorts of farting noise in 1st. (he pushed hard one day when I was walking past) sounded crazy but probably not healthy lol. does this happen normally when tuning?

And do you have to remove the torque reduction with a tune? I like that sound on gear changes but have not experienced it any other time..
