Head Unit Aux Mode Quality?

hi, im looking at buying a headunit to be put in the tissue holder of my ba ute. I would probably connect it through the cars aux input with the ford audio booster (therefore still able to use steering wheel controls). My question is will the sound quality be less than that of wiring the headunit in to the speakers. Because I am looking at getting some quality speakers such as rainbow or focal and dont want to get them if they wont run good quality sound. Also does anyone know the mounting depth in the doors for speakers?(6.5" splits?)

What would be the purpose of fitting an aftermarket H/U if you are gonna plug it into the AUX? That would be bypassing the higher quality amplifier in the H/U by using it's pre-outs.

You will probably get the same effect if you were to just upgrade the stock speakers. If you want a bit more oomph from the sound, then get a high level filter, wire it to the speaker out of the ICC and use an Amp to drive the speakers.

The only reason I would suggest you use an aftermarket HU through the standard AUX is if you were buying a DVD HU and used the standard system for sound and the DVD player for movies.

You could use the DVD HU to play pretty much everything but doubt the sound would improve.
