Hey guys,

Just wondering if you guys may be able to help me out with a few querks I need to have on my new ute.

I need it for work and need to get a steel tray. Obviouslly FORD can't help me out with this so I was wondering if anyone knows how much a new tray will set me back. It's not going to holding big weights, max probably around 3-400kgs. It's just that I move some big/light weight stuff

I've had a quick look over the net, but there's not alot around.

I'd also like a pretty tough looking tray, not the standard pov ford look ones.

Thanks

Your dealer should be able to help you with this mate, when I was selling fords it was a fairly common thing for customers to want alloy (or steel) bodies on the back of XR6T and XR8 utes

Ive always thought that flexiglass make the best looking trays. Sounds like your after something abit custom though.

If you're in QLD (in particular close to Warwick) these guys Shelleys Industries are pretty well known, particularly around the southern downs. A typical steel tray would set you back around the $3000 mark I believe. We've gotten a few trays done there over the years, the old man recently got one on his FG ute and it looks sh!t hot, no pics of it sorry. Looks a hell of a lot better and tougher than any aluminium/alloy tray ever would. They're happy to customize it as much as you want too.

From other prices I've seen around Brissy from other mobs they're all around that $3k mark for steel. Damn price of steel going up!

Even if you're not in QLD it would be worth a phone call to them anyway just to find out more info on steel trays.

Thanks for your help guys.

I may be a bit too picky about it, but the ones I've seen in those links a not quite what I'm after.

I would like something that appears to be sitting lower down that what most of the ones on there do.

I saw one at Fountain Gate on sunday and it had,"STIFF BUILT" written on the side. I've searched high and low but can't find anything on them.

I'll need an alloy tray though. With the carring capacity on the utes as standard and need to try and keep it as close to that as possible. If I go a steel one I'll lose about 50-70kg.

Thanks Again

P.S- I'm in Melbourne, I didn't realize my address has vanished when the site upgraded.
