hey!

I am getting my ute tuned next friday (cant wait)

but my wonder is what small mods should I do to get the most out of the first tune? I thought a high flow cat, intake and injectors would be a great starting point, but the tuner told me that the cat would not make much if any gains on just a tuned fg turbo (needs cooler and more mods. My pod in box intake is costing me KW and that a kn panel filter would be a better induction system. (pod is in the standard air box) and also that injectors are not needed till later on after cooler install.

so I am left confused what should I do? I have seen some good results with cat inteke and injectors, or should I take the advice given to me and just do the KN filter?

Depends on what you call minimal. If you go injectors $700, Cat $300 and tune $1100 that will just about get you to the 320rwkw limit of the turbo. If you want more consistancy in warmer temps then get a bigger intercooler $1800 also.

This could all be done on the standard filter but a K&N would be good.

All approx prices.

If you wanna get close to 320 then your going to need cat and injectors possibly intercooler. If you want approx 300 then injectors and tune will do.

I have seen an FG XR6 with these mods and more done by the Torque and Tune owner in Caloundra Queensland, and he only achieve 310RWKW, so I am thinking that 320RWKW is not possible with what you are suggesting. However I am far from being an expert. Therefore coreect me if I am wrong, but please strong evidence would help, along with reasoning, Kindest regards

ok I have decided to ge a high flow cat, xr8 air box and tune. (what I was originaly going to get). but is there any benifit in getting better injectors if you are not going to go close to maxing the others out? the fg injectors are close to 42lb

If you want more than approx 280rwkws then a larger injector is required.

Al@n,

As for getting 320rwkw with my above listed mods it will depend on the dyno really. If the dyno reads low then 310 may be it if it reads high then maybe a little more. Your car may well make 320 on other dynos. Can't really compare between different dynos. I'll be getting a dump pipe, cat and intercooler fitted with another tune Monday so I'll post up my results latter in the week.

thanks benny. that would be great! I have got a gt intake coming tomorrow, cat is being installed next week when I figure out what one to get. and as for injectors well, I have to start looking and getting prices. I dont care what kw my car makes, I just want to make the most out of the tune, without going way overboard. ie turbo and intercooler. haha but being able to say over 300 at the wheels is intimidating lol
