According to David from APS and Con from C&V here in Sydney, the stage 1 APS kit should be almost undetectable. They go to great lengths to install the unichip in a hidden location, and none of us could see any trace of the unichip or it wiring at the info day last weekend. And we did try!

Obviously they wouldnt tell us where it is installed, as the less people that know where it installed, the less that people get issues with their ford dealers.

Unless they pull the whole front end apart they shouldnt find it.

Not a bad upgrade, approx $1600 for 30kw.

The only difference visually between stock and APS Stage 1 is two wires going to the ECU instead of one. The extra wire is covered in the same convuluted tubing as the factory. Only a XR6T expert would pick it.

Exhaust is an interesting one. Chris (CFJ077) said he had no power gain from his but Iaschmidt said he did from his (can't recall figure).

MS700 put an XR8 air filter assy on his XR6T recently and appears to have made a small gain. Other people have changed to different brands of panel filters such as K&N

Xr8 Air Cleaner, Fitted to XR6T

Cold Air Intake Air @ Air Filter, performance

K&n Panel Air Filter

Bmc Air Filter Kw Improvement

Easy mate, just trade it in on a turbo. Or spend $7,000 putting a supercharger on it. Or about the same for an aftermarket turbo installation.

I just ran this exact kit past my insurance and they said flat out no. Wouldn't touch it. Leasing companies don't like mods.

And you can bet an assessor would find it if you bumped into a nice new Roller and its legal team.

There is starting to be some mods done for the n/a I have driven a ute and there is a marked differance to proformance no supercharger or turbo fitted.

There is thread on here called the n/a is back have a look at it and it will give some idea of what is happerning.

you say 3.5 inch exhaust gave you 22 rwklw and you have a stage 1 boost box running 10 psi giving you 228rwklw, I just put the same boost kit on running std exhaust no cold air intake and got 226rwklw in my auto running 8 psi ?

Here we go again :D

You can't compare performance unless the cars are tested on the same Dyno, in same mode and under identical conditions.

I would raise serious questions to whoever installed and tested your 8 psi kit, as I run an automatic with 3" turbo back stainless exhaust, cold air intake and 9 psi of boost, and my performance is 200 rwkw.

I have run my car against a manual and automatic both in standard configuration (1axr & mr walker), and on that Dyno I tested to around 225 rwkw, well above the standard cars.

Just be careful to get realistic numbers on your claimed performance increase, before comparing to other modified XR6T's :)
