Been speaking with one of the dealers over the past few weeks and totally forgot that it 'might' be of interest to a few other members....

Have been advised Ford Australia will be re-introducing the 'FACTORY EXTENDED WARRANTY' program.

From what I understand. (managed to get a sneak peak at the pricing list)...

BFII F6 - Ext to a 5 Yr with 300,000 kms (I think it was) - $1200 (roughly)...

Its not a 'dealer' warranty - but backed by Ford... I believe the old form of this was underwritten by Swann, the new one is under written by Allianz (I think)... Runs across the board through all dealers nationally.... So if you pay for it with Garlick's or Alto - and the car dies in Melbourne goes to City Ford in Melbourne there is no questions or problems with who pays or claim numbers...

Maybe someone else knows a bit more info - it was a few weeks ago that I saw and heard about this actually becoming official... Roomers have been floating around for a few months that I know of...

Doesnt seem to badly priced if it is actually 100% the same as the standard warranty...

Thoughts anyone?

:sleepystuff:

I rang myFord earlier in the week, and they didn't mention it. They told me no dealers in sydney offered the official ford extended warranty.

for $1200 I might give it a go, if I can find a dealer to give me more details. I don't want to have to get my car serviced at a dealer.

Yeah, they may not be allowed to mention it yet...

I know the guys that told me mentioned something on the side about 3 months maybe a few more ago to me, but said we will let u know when we can...

Then I asked the same guys about 2 weeks ago... they did the roll of eyes and looked away, then pushed a piece of paper towards me on the desk....

From what I understand its about 2-3 weeks away from being 'official'.... deal has been done with Allianz (I think it is as mentioned before)...

and for the money seemed ok to me...

There was a 3 day sale on about a month or two back that was offering 5 year (200,000km) Ford factory warranty with all new sales.

I am pretty sure all dealers were invloved (I know Peter Warren was), so it may have been a sounding board to see if there was public interest in a permanent extended warranty option.

Didnt know anything about that one.

But I am sure they are bringing them back - there was a pages and pages of stuff, and the pricing list was dated November 2009 (I think it said)...

Anyways we will know soon enough I guess!

Just saw an ad on TV offering 5 year extended warranty as a new car deal. So it's on! We all should look into it $1,200 bucks for 2 years is not a bad deal. But it must be total cover and provided by dealers. I really don't trust these 3rd party extended warranty deals.
