Here is a quick video of my ICC running iPod, SpringBoard and Safari. Sorry I didn't get a chance to demo TomTom or Navigon Navigation apps but I will show it when I get the Kiwi Wifi when I show the gauge operation.

I have made some progress with my in car entertainment

After a year of owning video input interface for my factory screen I actually attempted to "input" video into it yesterday. I bought a cheap cable off eBay to test it. Unfortunatly the iPhone was chucking the sh*ts.. pretty much politely telling me to get f*cked and go buy an apple genuine cable for $70. That aside I cut my losses on the crap cable and went an bought a proper Apple cable.

I have a DLO Vent Mount Dock for my 32GB iPhone 3GS which is mounted on my a/c vent. The a genuine Apple composite video cable which goes to my sound system/screen/accessories. This allows sound to come threw my sound system, video to display on screen and for it to always be charged.

In theory this is all well and good but noticed the screen switch doesnt work so I went to go get it sorted this morning, and it was simply the switch solder connections were broken most likely when fraud butchered my car and denied to replace my bluetooth under warranty. I was stoked to see something other than the reverse camera threw the screen.

I have a 2gb data plan for my iPhone with 3 so I now have internet in my car, and I don't need to look at that tiny iPhone screen.

I have also ordered a PLX Devices Kiwi Wifi which is a OBD II scanner which can get information of the factory ECU and transmit it to the iPhone via wireless connection. Thus will allow me to run a application called Rev which gets info from Kiwi Wifi, can display mulitple gauges including boost, afr etc live readout from ECU but also includes logging, skidpan, quater mile times etc

Reading my manual to tune a second preset into my sound system for aux input from iPhone. I came across a section where it talks about mounting locations for the digital processor and what it should not be exposed to... it contains the usual direct sunlight, dust, high humidity but what suprised me it says "high vibration"... which is kind of silly a car will vibrate, and so will subs? I take it it's a good thing it survived the drags then because half my custom stereo panels fell apart from the day lol. when going to tune it, noticed it hang on sounds ok, all I needed to do was turn volume down a couple db. The Alpine digital processor really is the sh*t, still sounds crystal clear

I would like to say my thanks for Dom at Audio Image for sorting all my installs for car audio/electrics.

ASL Automedia for the interface!

geohot for releasing a jailbreak for iPhone 3GS!

To do this you will need.

Someone to install, preferably a professional who knows what they are doing. If in WA I would only recommend Dom at Audio Image!

"Genuine" Apple Compisite Cable

USB Car Charger (can be soldered onto and tapped into accessories)

Jack to RCA connector

Jailbroken iPhone/iPod (if you want to display other things besides videos)

ASL Dual RGB Interface

Some sort of mount for your device

Obviously the appropriate software

If you want the gauges/features of Rev you will need a PLX Devices Kiwi Wifi

ScreenSplitr Application(must be jailbroken to run this application)

Me COD arrived today.. and yes it was the Kiwi Wifi. I was excited to plugged it in straight away, and now figured out........ OH sh*t, cant close the fuse cover while it's connected dammit, unless I source some sort of slimline adapter for it. Connected it up and was getting nothing, read manuals online realised the port which I had was incorrect. After that was sorted all my readings were 33.3 or 33%. I then realised I needed to "buy" the application($50) as the "version" I had will not work properly :Welcome2FordXR6t:

I didn't get to play with it all that much as I am quite tired and literally falling asleep atm, so tired due to not much sleep on w/e. But from what I saw it gives you many options, including logging, removing error codes etc as well as customisable applications etc. I will post my verdict probably after extensive driving with it this weekend. Also being WiFi I thought there would be lag but there's not noticable lag.

Oh and here's the gps

I haven't looked properly, but the obd2 plug in the fuse box area may be able to be dislodged and set further back so you can plug your thingy in and get the cover back on.

It may just be a couple of plastic tangs that need manipulating.
