Just go out to your garage, slide under the car and look at your diff bush. You'll know as soon as you see it. Sounds like the mechanic really doesn't give a rats. Tell him to put it on the hoist and show you that the bush is isn't cracked, refuse to leave until he does. If you are standing there when he discovers the cracks, he can't say "its normal".

I get a clunk as I pull up to a stop at traffic lights(mostly notice it). It clunks into first.... gives me the sh!ts. But kinda use to it now.... Its done it since I got the car with 20K on the clock. now has 33K.
