Warranty runs out in Feb and so far I have had around $8,000 worth of warranty work completed on my car. As the foreman put it "its worth getting mate, these cars do consume parts, it will pay for itself easily with one set of diff bushes or a new diff and you've got your monies worth. However, I was quoted around $1500 for the extra 3 years. The catch? Its a complete waste if you plan on ANY sort of modification down the track. Make sure the warranty is transferable if u get it. This will make it abit easier to sell later down the track.

wiresquire Member 266 Member For: 20y 2m 22d Posted 03/11/09 06:09 AM Share Posted 03/11/09 06:09 AM (edited) Yeah, there's also a difference between a factory warranty and one that is some 3rd party that is offered by a dealer. The 3rd party ones (used to mainly be underwritten by Swann) have a lot of conditions attached to them, eg you can only claim $X on transmission, or $Y on engine for the life of the warranty. A bit like health care limits on dental and optical etc. And it's typically tied so that you must have your service at ONLY that dealer every 6 months.Buyer beware and read all of the conditions!ws Edited 03/11/09 06:14 AM by wiresquire

If it's 5 years I'd say go for it, as long as you plan to keep it for that time. But you'll best make a decision based on your previous warranty experiences with that dealer. Lifetime Members 7,935 Member For: 21y 3d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 03/11/09 10:40 PM Share Posted 03/11/09 10:40 PM As it has been mentioned there are several "Extended Warranties" available from dealers. The ONLY one anyone should consider is the MYFORD one, as it does not set limits on repairs. It also does not require you to have the car services at the nominated Ford dealer. My TTG is out of warranty next month, so I have been also looking around at my options. As we had a big crash in it, I will offload it mid next year, so I might not bother with an extended warranty.Do not let your dealer sell you their dodgy inhouse warranty, stick with the new MYFORD one. There is an ad in the myFord magazine and it says that the myford warranty provides a full extension of the origional ford new vehicle warranty.
