So...only dealer workshops employ apprentices and have the aim to make a profit?

There are plenty of dodgy places out there, dealers or not, but that might ruin your little story. Overall I've had better service from my dealer than any other workshop I've ever used.

True, there are plenty of dodgy places out there. It's not difficult to ask local car enthusiasts in your area about servicing though. I can guarantee that most don't point you in the direction of the dealer... if any. Don't get your back up bub. Try it if you don't believe me. If you want to pay extra because the the garage has a Ford logo out the front.. your choice. Typically, young mechanics start at dealers and move on... dealers turn over MUCH more staff than your average local mechanic or tuning shop where morale is generally good. Many dealers have an us v them, white shirt middle manager deal going on behind the scenes. Experienced mechanics generally don't work at dealers long term either, so the experience is gone.

To put it simply for you, the dealer has first dibs on servicing as they have the brand name of your car on their door. That's it. That's why your paying a premium. Other mechanics have to rely on better pricing and service to draw it's clientele. The right ones give it too. :spit:

To be honest I couldn't care, it just sh*ts me that it's the same-old :spit: about dealers.

Don't hate me because I've got a good one, and actually pay LESS for servicing than at other mechanics. Only drama I've ever had is getting warranty repairs with all the approvals that are required these days - cannot fault their workmanship.

So to put it simply for you...the point I'm trying to make I guess is, lay off the stereotypical generalisations. Is getting very repetitive, predictable & boring.

For someone that claims to know so much about Ford you amaze me.

Im with Tab, probably because we have the same dealer. Ive not had any issues with them and they seem like decent chaps. Just make sure you note your clocked Ks and tell them under no circumstances is the car to be test driven without your knowledge.

Hey Tab what did you pay for your 15000k service minus oil and filter?

I'm almost too embarrassed to say to be honest :runaway:

$90.00

I see... Why so cheap?

The only good dealer I've heard of in Sydney is Peter Warren Smithfield (from members of this forum but not from personal experience). I went to City Ford and asked them to get my shaky idle fixed with my service, it wasn't fixed, instead they increased my idling speed and now my car uses more fuel.
