Dillz, the frontseat rails snapped, sending him into the back seat. First he went into the pass side, then as car folded in ended up back were he should be, but with the ICC and dash and everything was where he would have been sitting had the seat not broke off.

I was just thinking about this topic the other day...

A week and a half ago I was in an unfortunate position of witnessing a sickening accident.. and a more unfortunate ,and may I say traumatic, position of being the 1st on the scene and trying to help this young P plater in his Integra Type R after he slammed into a brick wall on pennant Hills road at Carlingford NSW.

He was trapped.. engine block in his lap and his left leg amputated at his knee. Ill never forget the look in his eyes.. never.

Hell never run.. dance or do things we all take for granted. Split second and his life changed for ever.

I walked back to my T and just stared at it... almost with contempt...

For the 1st time in my life.. it "scared me".. literally

Ive had fast cars all my life.. From my 1st and modded VL turbo in the late eighties , right through GT falcons and supercharged HSV's and now my FG.. but Ive always had a respect for such vehicles. Yes 400 is the new 300 and the way we just flout these numbers is insane these days! That is some serious horespower and well in excess any of us will ever care to use..safely .. in any situation let alone on public roads. Not being a stick in the mud.. just stating some facts.

Yep.. I still wonder how this young guy is doing... and I still inhale any information on how to get my T boogying.. Im such a hypocrite

Well said jimmi.

People don't realise how much of a potent killing machine 1.5 tonnes of metal can be, particularly with the sort of power that some people push out of it simply for road use.

No offense to this kid or anyone who knows him, but first he mutilates his body in a high speed crash, and then does the exact same thing in a car modified for a disable driver. You can only blame other people so long before you realise how f*cking stupid you are. I'm just thankful he hit a pole and not one of my family and friends.

Does anyone remember the crash that killed 5 kids in Mill Park, VIC when the douchbag hoon hit a tree? That wreck is currently sitting in a crate next to a dumpster at my best mates dads work (a smash repair shop in Brooklyn). The car was an unmodified turbo and the damage sustained is immeasurable compared to this. Parts of the car are scattered everywhere and the left hand side of the car is almost touching the right side.

Don't need 700whp to prove how much of a dropkick you are I guess. Just need your own blood and/or the blood of your mates.

Defensive driving courses are great. And I am all for them. ( so I should be)

But doing ONE is next to useless. It will give you good pointers and the way to do things. And for the next week or two YOU will be great.

Driving fast is more about you being use to the speed. Being able to control a car and keep your senses about you when it all goes to crap at speed. It's about being able to drive it to the end. Or not. And if you are not use to doing it ALL the time. Then you are going to jump on the brakes and look at and drive strait into what you least want to hit.

If you have a slide at say 80.. it's fun. Double that speed or less and it's a whole different matter MENTALLY. And It's what you will do that matters.

These cars can be made to go seriously quick relatively cheaply. And sorry, but no matter what you do to them or the tires and shocks you have, they handle like shoite on the limit. The more grip you have the more leathal they become on the limit.

I guess what I am trying to say if you have a quick car no matter what it is, you need to do track days regulary. Like every couple of months at least. That is the only way to keep your mind and reflexes tuned.

Otherwise it's bloody scary when these things step out at speed. Your heart goes in your mouth and your sphincter tightens like a vice if you are not use to it. It all happens very fast too, well all except the stopping unless like this bloke you use an immoivable object. And you cant think fast enough or move fast enough if you are not use to it. USE TO IT being the biggy !!!!!!!! Mine is set up pretty stiff and I use good tires. I have 6/4 Brembos. And it goes to jelly on the limit. It does not stop very well or turn in. I do track days a lot... or have this thing on the track and I know or can feel it still takes a few laps to get comfy with it.

I dunno but I find it's not the speed or how well it handles. The best bit is balancing it on the limit . Love that feeling. Don't matter what you are driving or riding. Well if there are corners involed anyway.

And age has nothing to do with it for mine. A young wipper snapper has got better reflexes. They can go harder and faster for a lot longer, What he doesn't have is the reality of the consiquences. The fear of getting hurt. Ah youth ... we were all so indestructable and shoite would never have happened to us. But it does.

Just to bump this up again for a timely reminder to play it safe on the road..

This was taken this morning:

towtruck297.jpg

towtruck296.jpg

Driver got with a dislocated sholder after hitting a tree in a 60km/h zone.

He is very lucky to still be with us.

If you feel the urge to play up and have some fun, Find a track day or skid pan session you can get in on and do it the safe way.

Hope it wasn't someone from here.

I'm very impressed with teh maturity of most of the views in this thread.

I for one have never done a track day (mainly just done drags) and I am thinking that I really need to get out to the circuit and find out what my ride is really like when pushed properly in the apropriate venue.
