Splicing 2 Intercoolers Together

most intercoolers you see have one core with one in and out.

I was thinking, if I was to join to STD coolers in series, like the pic attached, what would be the result?

so instead of the return air traveling through a pipe when exiting the cooler, it travels through a second intercooler and gets a second dose of cooling

its not a hard thing to do, and im in the process of making one for sh*ts and giggles...

I think that the capacity would be high, but so would the pressure drop...

im after some educated opinions... thanks

2 cooler setup

would this have any benifit over a cooler of the same core dimensions?

I think it will work pretty well but you will get some pressure drop for sure due to the 2nd tank being a u-turn bay lol.Basically yopu will have double cool air but not much can pass through at any given time

I reckon you would be much better off sticking one behind the other so you have a standard size core that is twice the thickness.

This gives you less than half the pressure drop. On a street car its just a heatsink anyway so pressure drop and flow is whats important.

Just have to make sure you have good frontal flow and the air can get away easily at the back.

this same u turn occurs in the standard setup anyway, so im hoping the pressure drop will not be double, more like one and a half

I was thinking about side by side, but a 110mm core wont fit will it?

if you have a great heat heat exchanger with poor flow what does this mean performance wise for the car?

does it just mean the turbo has to work that little bit harder to overcome the pressure drop? and if that bit of extra heat through compression is easily rejected then is it worth adding the restriction?
