I was looking at the new series 2 clubsport ( very cool...... for a commodore ) and it occured to me that in almost every case when a new model comes out, it is always more powerful than its predecessor. It wasn't long ago when 200kw was the dizzy heights of performance motoring.

The year 2003 has seen the GTS HSV and the GT push 300kw. I know that the R8 HSV has 285kw therefore the series 2 GTS will no doubt creep into the 300's.

Two things to keep in mind.

1/. It will be a brave maunufacturer that releases a new model with the same or less power as the one before it.

2/. The speed limit is not going up accordingly so when is enough, enough?

I think you'll find every time theres a power increase there is an improvement in suspension, aerodynamics, tyres, driveability etc,etc

Now if we could just get an improvement in government thinking  nah I'm dreaming again,we've got to keep the speed limits down for all the unsafe cars and incompetent drivers on the road :thumbsup: and also their government propping fines :cussing:

The NT of course has some highways with no speed restriction :)

Fancy a driving holiday to the top end?

Then in WA they are allowed radar detectors.

It seams the other states and territores are behind - too busy working on money grabbing scams.
