Hey guys,

Been pooring over the forums a fair bit since I bought my FG and I have a few questions that I have still unanswered. This is the first time I have ever driven let alone owned a ZF car and I love it. Just wanting to know what to expect when modding it or what to look for along the way to be aware of any issues so that I can get them covered under warranty if they should arrise.

At this point in time it seems pretty flawless (only 1200kms) but a couple of times I have had a clucnk when first taking it from P to R on cold start in the morning but at no other time.

Secondly, when stationary in gear I can feel a slight viabration through the car which is really the only thing I can feel or hear whilst parked as this is a much quiter car than the Bogan special was. Obviosuly this slight viabration goes away when I am in motion or car is out of drive.

Please let me know your thoughts or experiences with the ZF.

Thanks guys

Joel.

I had the ZF in my previous BF F6 and modded it to 390RWKW. No issues gear changes were the same as stock. sold at 50,000Ks still OK.

I did change the oil every 10,000Ks (The oil did not look like new even though Ford say the gearbox oil never needs changing)

Warrentee........NONE if you mod it be prepared to pay for it if you break it........

ZFs are great... I've banged mine up and down through the gears on the track and had no dramas, to me that's a pretty good test for an auto.

theres a couple of things you can do to help it. Regular oil changes especially once ya start modifing it & when your on the highway instead of just leaving it in d & flooring it put it in manual mode & ease it up & down the gears. I think that's how mine survived for so long.

I think the clunk you are talking about is from putting it in P before applying the handbrake, try putting it in N, then handbrake, then P. mine is the first auto I had and had the same clunking until I read this tip somewhere on this forum.

That was my first thought too, make sure the car isn't resting on the parking pin! I only recently learned not to stick it in Park before letting the car fully rest on handbrake when stopping. Sensible when you have it explained! I've learned to wince at the CLUNK noise now. Schooled the gf on parking her yaris too!

Enjoy the FG, wish I could have stretched to a new one in seduce... brmmmm!! :stupid:

I always quickly put in in N for half a second before putting it in park, makes sure that there is no cluck when you put it back in D.
