My 2006 bf2 is out of warranty in two months first car I have owned which still has a manufactures warranty. Im taking it to my mechanic to get checked over tomorrow before booking it in for warranty work at my local dealer in Geelong.

I have heard some people get shafted when getting work done and I want to at least look like I know what im talking about, so what is the process to get warranty work done?

Im guessing I just ring up and ask to have it booked in for warranty work, when I drop it off with a list do they say what is covered is not covered by warranty work?

Do I also tell them they have to call me before getting any additional work done?

yep, book it in telling them its warranty issues. I'm in the same boat as you (warranty up in December), and my car actually went into the dealer yesterday for front suspension noises, oil on the gearbox sump and around the motor, bubbling paint on the silver door inserts. They also found the diff bush was rooted (I checked this about a month ago and it was fine).

They said the oil was "general weeping" and was ok. I'll be definitely getting them to put this in writing to cover my ass for the next year or so.

Hopefully the suspension is all sorted when I pick it up today....and that they have put the whole IRS assembly back in properly and has no vibrations.

Make the list as you said. NRMA still runs a very good vehicle inspection process. I've used it on cars coming out of warranty and they have discovered some issues that normally would not be picked up. Things like diff fluid low level and a weak A/C pipe. Ford fixed them based on the report from NRMA. Just a thought.
