hey guys,

so I bought a 50inch plasma a few weeks back and am looking at wall mounting it. first question is has any one brought a wall bracket off ebay? are they worth buying off ebay? as there 1/3 of the price! and secondly how have you managed to hide the cables? was it easy to get them through the wall?

I was going to put it on a bench but as he tv is going in my room its hard to find a bench that is high enough, so was thinking of wall mounting it with a shelf under it for dvd player etc.

cheers dave!

Hey I got a bracket off ebay and when it comes to something like a bracket I would be happy to buy off ebay. As for the cables I just used a clean rectangular bit of conduit and ran down the wall as its in the rumpus its tolerable yet still neat. As for running through the wall my unit upstairs has been done before I bought the place.

it is not hard to run the cables through the wall if it is a cavity or stud wall. If it is double brick or concrete, forget it.

You are also better paying someone to do the work as you could cause damage that will costa lot to repair. As it has been suggested, you can get square conduit with double sided tape and run the cables through that.

Dont buy off ebay. They are known to lie about the amount of weight they can take, be careful.

I have a 40inch LCD mounted on the below bracket:

My linkhttp://www.atdec.com.au/Content_Common/pr-Discontinued-products_26-37-Wall-Articulated-Arm.seo

The reason I picked this mount was so I can have it on my wall but can turn the LCD on a 90degree angle to be able to watch it outside as well.

Have a look around that site for something you like. All their brackets match up with the below mounting holes:

Suits displays with 100mm x 100mm (4” x 4”), 100mm x 200mm (4” x 8”) and 200mm x 200mm(8” x 8”) VESA mounting hole patterns

I can get these wall mounts at wholesale prices if your interested. More then 50% off what Harvey Norman sell them for.

that's the main reason why I thought ide ask before buying one off ebay! dont want to come home one day and see my tv on floor!! thanks hiroF6 there products look pretty good, would you be able to find out some prices on the following:

1) Mounts | Screen Mounts, Wall Mounts & Ceiling Mounts | Atdec

2) ATDEC TELEHOOK WALL: 32-63" Wall Tilt | Wall Mounts & Mounting Solutions | Atdec

3) ATDEC TELEHOOK WALL: 31-55" Wall Tilt | Wall Mounts & Mounting Solutions | Atdec

as for the cables I will run them down the wall, it is only a small distance maybe a meter max so ill figure something out!

thankx for the advice:)

Dave, I've actually got a brand new plasma wall mounting kit (still in its box) that I never ended up using - it's literally been sitting under a bed for, oh, probably a couple of years now! Anyway, it wasn't an eBay item (I bought it from a local store) and is apparently suitable for screens between 30" and 60" (or 75-160cm) weighing up to 80kg (175lbs). I've certainly got no use for it (plans to wall mount my 42" plasma were shelved after we found a nice big entertainment unit that suited our decor better) so am happy to let it go for much less than I paid for it. If you're interested, shoot me a PM and I can email you photos, etc. Not sure where you are (I'm in Canberra) so not sure how much postage would come to - it's not exactly light.

JB hifi $100 - $125 dont pay more. Mine is a 65 inch Panasonic. You can use black spiral wrap for the cables and route down the centre.

Mate - just use a little bit of plastic cable skirting - can get it from bunnings - run it up the wall, run your cables it in and paint the bastard... u'll never tell... :)

Brackets - we sell heaps of these - make sure its not some cheap crap - or you 'might' end up calling your insurance broker to ask for some money to buy a new plasma...

Have seen the results from some cheap nasty crap...
