another thing to consider with ethanol is that it mixes with water and doesn't repel it like fuel. so if the servo or your tank have any water in it the ethanol will mix with it and hold the water particals throughout the whole tank.

Sorry didnt read all the post got put off by the Bullsh*t about it burning hotter rah rah BUllsh*t.

The falcon ecu can cope fine its not dumb it knows to re adjust the A/F

I have done testing alot of it on E85 not lab testing just real testing.

I have motor bikes everything running it little honda mowers 20b rotor the list goes on.

I did and you can run e85 with no probs on a FG xr6t it readjust the A/f fine. After lots of dyno runs we found 15kw atw increase NO TUNE Not until my drive home I noticed the engine light comes on. Works out that on the highway because ethanol burns COOLER it trips the o2 sensor. Easy FIX

Now its tuned with 660cc injectors stock fuel pump etc and I get a consistant 320kw atw and 885nm Oh but hears the thing you can get good economy. highway driving ON speed limit which I find hard to do you can get around 9-11L/100km and around town my average is normally 17.5L/100km (I love booting it) though when trying it out on M2 + city traffic I kept it at 13L/ 100km

Oh by the way there is section on flex fuel in the ECU its disabled and has no tables

OH OH OH I have now done 24000 k's its great keeping a tank in the ute and never giving the oil f*ckS any cash

This is very interesting, from my (limited) understanding ford does not recommend using E85, therefore would that void warranty, Cheers.

Warranty PFFTT!!!!!!

They have to replace things if the fuel didnt cause any problems and I know this fuel well it WONT.

+ ford called to see how things are going. I told the guy mate tell ford to pull their fingers out becuase I have been driving only on e85 in fact my engine light now comes on when I run even e50 haha.

Hi Guys,

Make no mistake. Ethanol is CORROSIVE! The quotes below show this. You might find an E85 outlet but DON'T use it in an E10 car. Our E10 cars can cope with 10% ethanol BUT NOT 85% (E85).

I heard a story of a 30 year old Late model camira breaking down after starting E10 use. The mechanic claimed the corrosive nature of the E10 loosened the rust in the metal fuel tank, allowing it to block the fuel filter.

When E10 first hit the market, I think the sellers claimed that one of its benefits was that it keeps fuel injectors very clean. Wonder why? ;-)

One BIG negative for E10 is that it causes a LOSS of fuel economy. This is because it has less calories than petrol.

A positive aspect of E10 is that it's around 95 RON. If you're running an XR6T with a standard tune, I guess you should be able to run E10. I have been buying 98 RON when it's up to 15 cpl more expensive. The SCUMBAG Oil Co's have found a new way to rip us off. They are now charging IN EXCESS of 20 cpl MORE for 98 RON. Bathplugs to a man!! I guess they've figured out that it's easy to gouge enthusiasts?

THE QUOTES:-

One big problem. Unlike petroleum, ethanol is corrosive and cannot be transported through pipelines. This leaves three options for moving it from producers in the heartland to consumers on either side of the country--trains, barges and, most likely of all, trucks. If we can find the drivers . . . . In 2006, the U.S. consumed 4 billion gallons of ethanol. Under President Bush's "20 in 10" plan, that number will rise to 35 billion gallons by 2017.

One of the other problems facing ethanol is getting it from refineries to fuel stations. Ethanol is highly corrosive and can't be shipped via pipelines as oil and petroleum can.

HowStuffWorks "Problems (and Solutions) of Switchgrass"

Ethanol, due to its relatively high corrosive characteristics, can’t be transported though traditional pipeline systems. As a result, the additional ethanol volume is new traffic to the rail industry — with California being the largest market.
