Well I got a fair bit done today.

Got the two manifolds on, sensors, wiring loom, injectors/fuel rail, oil supply line and water supply lines, heater hoses, flywheel and clutch, and threw her back into the engine bay bolted to the gear box and bolted down on the mounts.

So tomorrow I will just have to plug the rest of the wiring loom into the gearbox, bolt the a/c and alternator on and that will nearly be it until my plenum from rapid gets here and a new turbine housing and 8psi actuator from rotomaster gets here too...

thanks senna, no she is just the garret replacement. Garret were no longer allowed to sell the ford housing so they made their own with a 10% difference to get around patents. This housing has a higher nickle content so its got a better chance of holding up to the heat stresses that cause the cracking from what I'm led to believe. It also has a bigger waste-gate port and flapper. A new 8lb actuator and arm are coming with it too.

When I ordered the housing rotomaster were in the process of testing a prototype turbine housing that I think was reinforced somehow to over come the cracking issue....I should give them a call in the new year and find out some more info, when I called last I was in a bit of a rush.

I would have liked to go the external gate, but time isn't on my side. That along with the cash involved and the lack of people in the area that could make a new / change my dump had limited my choices.

SHES ALIVE!!!

Im still waiting on my plenum so I through the nizpro cold side piping and the cross-over back on so I can get it going at least.

I took it for a little drive down the street and have come across two problems.

-- When I am parked and hold the rpm at about 2000rpm it coughs and cuts out a bit like a miss, this is also seen in driving, accelerate from idle and sometimes it misses and jerks the car. Do you guys reckon this could be fuel or spark related. Its got all new spark plugs and I don't know if the coils have ever been changed. When the injectors were out I individually bagged them straight away and cleaned dipped them in a bit of fuel before putting them back in (they are nizpro units). all the vacuum lines appear to be all sweet. I'm leaning towards spark but tell me what you think. I'll go out and meter the coil primary while waiting for replys.

-- The second is the power steering stutters. I took the cap off and moved the steering side to side in an attempt to bleed out any air and it got a bit better. It seems to be more affected at low rpm. Also at idle the fluid is sitting on the low line. Tell me what you think

As for the engine, shes all sweet so far. Apart from the missing you wouldn't even know it was a built engine. When I went for a test drive down my private road, I had no bonnet on and I didn't get the engine on boost but I managed to get to 0psi by reading my gauge, and the spool noise with the new air box is WICKED. its probably alot louder without the bonnet on but it still sounded great.

Anyway im off you meter these coils so tell us what you think about my issues.

Cheers

Cam

So my results from checking the resistance of the coils were....

All the primary windings were .7 ohm, and from the secondary connection to the the primary pins measured.

1- 5.97 k ohm

2- 5.93 k ohm

3- 6.05 k ohm

4- 6.05 k ohm

5- 5.93 k ohm

6- 6.00 k ohm

There's a little variation in the readings but am not sure if the differences are worth looking further into.

Yeah greg its heaps long mate... at least a dozen blocks anyway lol :buttrock:

Thanks baf6 im thinking that might be the go, I'm gonna top up the reservoir to see if that helps too. then its to the drawing board with my other issue.

Ok so I've changed the plugs back to the ford items sent with the engine (I'm presuming they were the ones atomic test run the engine on). With ford plugs there was no change. So I'm planning on borrow battyb's coils this arv and I'm hoping this problem will clear up. I've also taken out the O2 sensor not expecting to see much but had nothing to lose. I've checked over pretty much all of the sensor connections... Next I'm gonna check if the computer is throwing up any fault codes by borrowing a mate's (gravelrash's) xcal2 in a hope that it will give me some directions.
